Femme Fatale – Spring Fling

6

Today I have a beautiful Femme Fatale polish for you.  This is Spring Fling and on Femme Fatale website this is described as “A medium opacity creme polish speckled with hints of pastel green and aqua, flashes of white diamond and bright pink metallic glitter. Scattered throughout are soft flecks of neon green”.

This is very pretty and truly looks like a spring color to me. This was very hard to capture accurately but in real life the base color is fresh light teal and the glitters really pop nicely. The formula was very good and I had no issues with the application. Two coats looked like it was enough but looking at the photos maybe I could’ve even applied a third. I used two coats of top coat to smooth the surface. This was very packed with glitter so no need to even turn the bottle upside down. Very, very pretty!!

Femme Fatale polishes and cosmetics can be bought from their website where you can also find a list of international stockists. You can also follow Femme Fatale on social media: FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

For this manicure I used two coats of Spring Fling and two coats HK Girl top coat.

China Glaze Sea Goddess – Shell We Dance?

12

Happy Sunday lovelies!! Today I have a pretty little thing from the new China Glaze spring 2014 Sea Goddess collection to show you. This is Shell We Dance? a gorgeously fruity and sweet pink texture polish with pink and silver glitter.

The formula on this was somewhat thick compared to OPI Liquid Sands but I had no issues with the application. I applied two coats which was enough for an opaque result and dry time wasn’t too long either. I really liked this one and now I’m tempted by the other pretties on this collection. Such gorgeous spring shades!

On this manicure I used two coats of Shell We Dance? no undies or top coat.

F.U.N. Lacquer – Diamond

4

Today I have a gorgeous holographic top coat from an indie brand from Singapore, F.U.N. Lacquer Diamond. I recently received my first F.U.N. Lacquer order and this is my first post about their products. If this is a new to you brand I highly recommend you check out their store. It’s filled with absolutely stunning polishes and some gorgeous thermals too.

And now on to today’s polish which is Diamond top coat. This is a SpectraFlair/Holographic top coat that you can layer over any color you want. I think this will probably look the best over creme polishes but you can also wear it alone if you like to. I decided to layer it with my Wet n Wild Disturbia manicure. I only used one coat cos I wanted the base color to show through too. This applies thinly so you can apply more than one coat to get the result you want. For me the effect was strong enough with just one coat and I absolutely love this. I can’t wait to try this over some other colors like neon pink or orange!

Formula was flawless and it applied smooth as butter. On the photos I have one coat of Diamond over Wet n Wild Disturbia topped with HK Girl top coat.

OPI Gwen Stefani collection

10

I was so excited when I first saw the news about Gwen doing a collection with OPI. I’m a huge Gwen fan and this collection just makes me so happy :) I think this ended up looking a lot like Gwen. It’s a solid and stylish collection. All the polishes go together really well and there’s a countless amount of combinations for nail art designs. Just Perfect!

All these polishes applied perfectly and were opaque in two coats. All of the cremes and In True Stefani Fashion have a top coat on them.
HEY BABY is a gorgeous bright pink with a hint of raspberry in it. It’s fresh and not too in your face color. Perfect for summer!
I SING IN COLOR is a very deep dark red polish with some chocolate shade in it. You can see the wine-ish red much better with just one coat but this requires two to be completely opaque. I have quite a few vampy shades in my collection but not one just like this. Very pretty!

OVER & OVER A-GWEN is a classic bright red. As many others have said Gwen collection has to have a bright red polish in it. This beauty comes in it’s own collectors box with some Swarovski studs and crystals, a nail glue plus instructions and tips for some nail art using the polishes on this collection.
I love red nails! I have a lot of red nail polish and this one is now the queen of those reds!
IN TRUE STEFANI FASHION has square and hex silver and holographic glitter on a clear base. This one is quite packed with glitter so only one coat is enough if you want the base to show through. On the photo I have one coat over I Sing In Color. Very pretty and sparkly!
4 IN THE MORNING is a black satin matte with subtle silver shimmer. I love the velvet-y look this has but if it isn’t for you no one is telling you not to add the top coat for shine.
LOVE.ANGEL.MUSIC.BABY. is a gold satin matte. I really like this one! The gold tone in this one is also so neutral that it’ll go well with a lot of different skin tones. Very beautiful!!
PUSH AND SHOVE is a gorgeous silver chrome polish. Very shiny, almost mirror like finish. This one will only work with the Lay Down That Base base coat that comes in the package. Apply the base coat on clean nails and let dry for two mins. When applying Push And Shove you need to be quick and careful. Don’t go over the same spot twice since that might cause balding and dragging of the polish. Let the first coat dry well before applying the second. Don’t pay too much attention on the visible brush strokes or try to fix them by going over them again. Most of them will disappear on their own when the polish dries. You are not supposed to use a top coat with this polish.

In real life this looks awesome! So shiny! It worked great with my nails and UV-gel layover I have on them. On natural nails the shiny finish will make the tiniest flaws on your nails very visible so you might want to buff them a bit before using this polish. OPI says this is only meant for one night use.

I also have to mention that over the UV-gel this also worked without the basecoat. I didn’t see a noticeable difference between the nails with the base coat compared to the ones without. It also stayed looking perfect for the 24 hours that I tested it.

So how do you feel about this collection? Have you bought any of these polishes yet?

Wet n Wild Megalast – Disturbia

1

I bought this polish quite a while ago for a discounted price and I just now got around to using it. Mostly cos I wanted to layer a holographic top coat on it but more about that on Saturday’s post.

This is Wet n Wild Megalast Disturbia. Dark purple with subtle pink shimmer. The shimmer is more visible in the bottle than it is on the nails. Application was good and it took three coats for an opaque result. Shorter nails will get away with just two though. I’m still happy with all the Wet n Wild polishes I have bought. Sadly they are getting harder and harder to find here in Finland :/

For this manicure I used three coats of Disturbia and HK Girl top coat.

Linda Johansen Nail Candy – Demoiselle

4

After the crazy pirate/skull nails i decided to go nude. This is my first Linda Johansen Nail Candy polish, Demoiselle. Creamy nude creme. Good quality and application. I applied two normal coats. This works great on it’s own but I think it would be even better as a base for nail art :)

For this manicure I used two coats of Demoiselle and HK Girl top coat (This is also now available on Norway Nails).

Linda Johansen Nail Candy polishes are available at Norway Nails. You can use the code “POLISHAHOLIC” to get -10% off of any purchase. Norway Nails offers a wide range of gorgeous indies and other polish brands. You can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Girly pirate nails and Born Pretty Store skull review

13

Today I have some 3D stud nail art for you again with a Born Pretty Store review. Since I pretty much suck at freehand nail art and I don’t like decals or stickers much then this is pretty much the only thing I can do :D I got these metal skulls (#2) to try out and I had to think for a bit about what to do with them. The obvious thing was to put on black nail polish and stick a skull on one of the nails. I wanted to do something a little more girly though and came up with this design.

The base color is OPI Chic From Ears To Tail. After that was dry I used masking tape to get straight lines on the tips and applied OPI Liquid Sand Emotions. Then I used top coat to attach round studs and the chain on the ring finger. Both of these products can also be found from Born Pretty Store. At last I added the skull. I just used top coat so I could easily remove it and save for later use. If you really want to attach it so that it stays on too you need to use glue.

Skulls are flat and they stick out on the side of the nails. So I recommend these to be used mostly on one night party manicures. If possible you should also wait till the last minute to glue the skull on to your manicure. Otherwise it will be stuck in your hair or clothes while you’re getting ready.

I think this looks great with my nail shape and using pink too made the manicure look a little more feminine but still edgy and pirate-y ;)

You can buy these skulls from Born Pretty Store and they also have a wide range of other nail art supplies. Born Pretty Store offers free worldwide shipping. Please use the code “NZL91” when you order and get extra -10% discount.

Chaos and Crocodiles – LH06

6

Today I have a very limited edition/single batch polish for you, Chaos and Crocodiles LH06. This is a gorgeous lavender linear holo. I got this cos it matches my lavender hair :D Quality is excellent and two easy coats was enough for an opaque result. Totally gorgeous!!

I bought my bottle from Mei Mei’s Signatures but it’s sold out there. It later arrived to Norway Nails and as I hit the publish button it’s still available there. Use the code POLISHAHOLIC for -10% off. As I mentioned this is a single batch polish and if you want it I suggest you don’t think about it too long, once it’s gone it’s gone forever!

This is two coats of Chaos and Crocodiles LH06 with HK Girl top coat.

Color Club – East Austin

8

This delicious, almost neon, peachy bomb of a creme is Color Club East Austin from their Fall 2013 Girl About Town collection. This color is absolutely gorgeous! On the photo it looks like it gave me lobster hands but that is just the camera freaking out with the brightness of this shade. In real life it actually made my winter pale hands look almost tanned. This is a perfect shade for a snowy and sunny winter day too!

Like the other two cremes from the same collection this has good formula and application. A little streaky on the first coat and evened out perfectly with the second. This was a tiny bit thinner than the other two cremes and since my nails are so long I added a third coat. Top coat is of course HK Girl.

Femme Fatale – Witchful Thinking

0

Happy Sunday! Here’s another Femme Fatale polish for you. I decided to use their glitter topper Witchful Thinking over my Maddening Whispers manicure I showed you the other day.

Here’s how this polish is described on Femme Fatale website: “A clear based glitter topper filled with gunmetal, black, charcoal and silver glitters in various sizes/shapes and accented with a stunning lavender shimmer and violet iridescence. We recommend using over a darker base colour to enhance the shimmer”.

This is very packed with glitter so I found it easiest to apply the first coat normally and dab on the second coat. That way I really had no issues with application. I also used two coats of top coat to make sure the result was smooth. This polish has an awesome metallic look to it and it looked really cool in real life! Unfortunately all the sparkle this polish has didn’t show up on the photos.

Femme Fatale polishes and cosmetics can be bought from their website where you can also find a list of international stockists. You can follow Femme Fatale on social media: FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

For this manicure I used two coats of Maddening Whispers, two coats of Witchful Thinking and two coats HK Girl top coat.
