Polishers Inc. – My Cinderella Hand

20

Happy Sunday! I’ve missed last two Polishers Inc. Sundays cos of the kids being sick. But now I’m back and today’s theme was “My Cinderella Hand”. So basically do what ever you want on your cinderella hand meaning your other hand you never show on camera.

For me that is my right hand. Doing nail art on my right hand wasn’t a problem really. I do that all the time. Photographing it, now that’s another story LOL Weird poses and finger positions. Sitting on the wrong side of the camera. Everything was so difficult for me. It’s not like I’ve never taken photos of my right hand, cos I have. It just felt like I haven’t. Nevertheless I got something done and the photos taken.

When I hear Cinderella I think of princesses, diamonds and pretty, girly things so that is where I decided to go with this theme.

For this manicure I used Jindie Nails Pink Stilettos, Essie Sugar Daddy on my middle finger, Moo Moo’s Signatures Diamond on my ring finger. The stamping is done with Rica Whiteout and hehe 018 stamping plate. I also added some Swarovskis. Top coat is of course Glisten & Glow HK Girl.

That’s all from me this Sunday but be sure to check out the other ladies and their cinderella hands. You can find the links below.

Polishers Inc. – All-time Favorite

16

Today is Polishers Inc. day again and this time the theme was All-time Favorite as the polish you love the most. To me that was an easy one. It’s OPI Kinky In Helsinki and it’s my favorite polish cos of the emotional value this exact bottle has. Don’t get me wrong though, this is a GORGEOUS polish but to me it’s more than just that. I’ve had this bottle since 2003. It was a gift from my then boyfriend, now a husband and he brought it with him from Texas the first time he came to Finland.

I wanted to do keep this manicure mostly about the polish and not cover it up with a lot of nail art. My first idea failed miserably but it also gave me this idea that turned out looking much better.

I started with two coats of Kinky In Helsinki and let those dry well. Then I stamped a heart pattern from XL-O stamping plate using Konad Vivid Pink. Next I applied a coat of Kinky In Helsinki and I kept the coat so thin you can still see the stamping through it. Last I added a coat of HK Girl top coat.

In real life the pattern is a little more visible than in these photos and it has a certain glow to it. I’m happy with the result and maybe I’ll redo this manicure for Valentine’s Day :)

Don’t forget to check out the links on the bottom of the post and go check out what the other talented ladies came up with this week :)

Polishers Inc. – A New Technique

20

Hello everyone! I hope you guys are having a great Sunday :) I got an honor to join Polishers Inc. and this is my first post with them. I’m so excited to do this :D

“Polishers Inc. is a group of European nail bloggers that want to exchange their ideas about nail art and inspire each other! We post every first and third Sunday of the month.”

Other ladies in this group are (and what a group it is) :

Annie (Polish This!)
Charlotte (Chakalacquer.dk)
Coco (Coco’s Nails)
Emma (Wasting Lifestyle)
Karine (Nailderella)
Malene (Nail Escapades)
Maria (rijaH.dk)
Milena (Nail That Design)
Mina (Cubbiful)
Paulina (Paulina’s Passions)
Tamit (fall in…naiLove!)

Today’s theme is “A new technique” and I decided to try foil stamping. A while ago I saw someone mention foil stamping in FB and I just had to find a tutorial instantly. I watched a couple of YouTube videos and decided it was definitely something I wanted to try. Now today’s theme gave me a perfect opportunity to do so.

I started by applying a coat of clear polish on a minigrip bag and let it dry. Then I stamped a pattern from hehe 004 stamping plate using Konad Pinky Red stamping polish and immediately pressed a pink transfer foil over the pattern. I removed the foil and allowed the design to dry for a bit. I made a few extra ones for practicing cos I knew I was going to mess it up at first. Then I applied a coat of top coat and let everything dry again.

After the self made decals where dry I peeled them off the minigrip bag and cut them slightly smaller and into shape. I applied a coat of polish on my nail, placed the decal and gently pressed it on my nail. I slowly worked it on the nail, pressing down, cutting some more of the sides and using a brush dipped in acetone to shape it near the cuticle line. When I got it to look well attached and smooth on the nail I added a coat of HK Girl top coat.

For index and pinky nails I cut a slice off the decal and placed those on the middle of the nails. When they were fully attached I sealed them in with HK Girl.

On the nude base full nail design you can see that either the stamping polish or the foil bled into the base a little but it doesn’t look bad so I left it be. I really loved how these turned out. The foil gave a really nice look to the stamping pattern and I can see a lot more uses for this technique. This was also my first time doing my own decals and even if it was a bit more work it was totally worth it. Now I can’t wait to try reverse stamping :D

If someone is wondering why I didn’t just press the foil straight on my nail instead of making a decal here’s why. The foil didn’t attach on the pattern perfectly each time and some of the decals were useless. It was also a lot easier to press the foil on pattern/plastic bag laying on a smooth table surface instead of a curvy nail.

The polishes used for these nails:

Index and pinky: a coat of Sally Hansen Nail Rehab, a coat of Glisten & Glow Stuck On Blu!, two coats of OPI Ate Berries in the Canaries, a slice of foil stamping decal and HK Girl top coat.

Middle and ring finger: a coat of Sally Hansen Nail Rehab, a coat of Glisten & Glow Stuck On Blu!, a coat of Essie Sugar Daddy, full nail foil stamping decal and HK Girl top coat.

Thanks for reading and please check out the links at the end of the post to see what everyone else did for today :)

Jindie Nails – O Holo Night and stamping nail art

10

Happy Monday! It’s that magical time of the year and what would be a better polish to paint your nails with than the one that is called O Holo Night :D

“This one is a blackened navy blue linear holo with violet/blue glass fleck shimmer and made with SpectraFlair, the most potent holographic pigment on the market.  This is opaque in 2 coats!”

Formula on this was very good. Easy to apply, no dragging or balding and it was almost opaque already on one coat. Dry time was quick and it didn’t stain my nails. Unfortunately this time of the year there’s not enough sun here in Finland to see the holo effect as amazing as it would be in direct sunlight so I just have to show you how beautiful this looks with just daylight bulbs.

For this manicure I used a coat of Sally Hansen Nail Rehab, a coat of Glisten & Glow Stuck On Blu!, two coats of O Holo Night and HK Girl top coat.

Stamping is done with OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby, squishy XL stamper and XL stamping plate OB-M. Rhinestones are from Konad Pro Rhinestone Pallet Set 7.

You can buy Jindie Nails polishes from JindieNails.com or from authorized distributors. You can find the latest news, releases and restock info from their FB and IG.

A England Gloriana nail art

6

Lately I’ve felt a big need to do some nail art with my new polishes instead of just taking swatch photos. Though I try to keep it so that you guys can still get a good look of the polish too.

This time I used A England Gloriana from the Elizabeth & Mary collection (and what a stunning collection it is). The formula on this was great! Application was very smooth and this was a one coater (!!) with a normal dry time. I really must have a couple of more polishes from this collection. So pretty!

For thumb, index and pinky nails I used a coat of Sally Hansen Nail Rehab treatment, a coat of Glisten & Glow Stuck On Blu! base coat, a coat of Gloriana and HK Girl top coat.

For middle and ring finger I used a coat of Sally Hansen Nail Rehab treatment, a coat of Glisten & Glow Stuck On Blu! base coat and a coat of Essie Sugar Daddy for a nude base. I let the base dry and used Born Pretty Store stamping plate 05 and Gloriana to stamp the pattern on the nails. I also applied a coat of HK Girl and let everything dry again. I wasn’t looking for crisp clean lines for the patterns and Gloriana didn’t give those either. I wanted the stamping to look old-ish and fading and it did. I test stamped with Gloriana on a plastic tip cos I wanted to make sure it looked right for the manicure.

Then I cut wavy pieces off of blue masking tape and placed them on to the nails. For middle finger nail I used a coat of Essie Licorice and for the ring finger a coat of Gloriana to cover the parts that the tape left uncovered. I immediately removed the tapes and added the dots using a small dotting tool and Essie Licorice. I let the nail art dry for a bit and then added a coat of HK Girl.

Is me explaining the process of creating these manicures enough or would you sometimes like to see tutorials too?

Born Pretty Store stamping plate 02 review – Lace nails

18

I recently received 10 new stamping plates from Born Pretty Store and instead of showing all of them at the same time I’m going to do a design with each of them and show them one or two at a time.

I’ve been wanting to do lace style nails for a long time now and stamping plate 02 had perfect patterns for that. It looks like stamping plate 02 design has changed a bit since they sent mine to me and the exact pattern I used is no longer on the new plate. On the new design there’s still very pretty lace patterns and the new ones are actually big enough to cover your whole nail. On this older plate the pattern I used was a tiny bit too narrow to cover my whole nail so I ended up using it only on the tips and the sides of the ring finger nail.

This plate worked great for me. I’m really a beginner when it comes to stamping nail art and I’ve only done stamping a few times. I had no trouble at all with this plate. The pattern transferred perfectly to the stamper and on to the nails.

I started by doing a nude base using a coat of Sally Hansen Nail Rehab nail treatment, a coat of Glisten & Glow Stuck On Blu! base coat and a coat of Essie Sugar Daddy. I also added OPI In True Stefani Fashion to the areas where I was going to stamp so that the beautiful holo glitter pieces would sparkle through the lace pattern. I finished with HK Girl top coat and let the manicure dry.

After the mani was dry I applied IsaDora Peel Off Basecoat on my cuticles to protect them from the black stamping polish. I cut pieces of blue masking tape and placed those on to my nails to cover the areas where I didn’t want to stamp. I didn’t want all the tips to look exactly the same so I tried to place the tape pieces a little differently on each nail. After all this was done I took my XL squishy stamper and black Konad stamping polish and stamped the patterns. Then I immediately removed the tapes and peel of base coat and cleaned up the little bit of black polish that got on to my skin.

Next I took a fine nail art brush and black acrylic paint. I drew a thin line next to the pattern and filled out the tiny little gaps here and there that I missed with my stamper (cos I’m simply not good enough at this yet :D ). I added the details on the ring finger between the stamping and let everything dry well again. After a while I added HK Girl top coat and rhinestones (also from Born Pretty Store) and I was done.

I absolutely love how these turned out. I’ll definitely be doing similar nails again and maybe a matching makeup look :)

You can buy the newly designed stamping plate 02 from Born Pretty Store and they also have a wide range of other nail art supplies. Born Pretty Store offers free worldwide shipping. Please use the code “NZL91” when you order and get extra -10% discount.

Jindie Nails manicure

6

For this manicure I used two Jindie Nails polishes Phone, Keys, Polish, Check! and Frank’s Ole Lady. Since they were both so gorgeous I couldn’t decide which one to use first so I used both. I have a review and better swatch photos of Phone, Keys, Polish, Check! coming up later on :)

For this manicure I used Sally Hansen Nail Rehab treatment and Glisten & Glow Stuck On Blu! base coat on all the nails. Phone, Keys, Polish, Check! on my index, middle and pinky nail. Then I used Frank’s Ole Lady for thumb and ring finger nails. Stamping was done with Konad silver stamping polish and Konad M63 plate. I finished the manicure with HK Girl top coat.

If you want Frank’s Ole Lady I suggest you act FAST. Right now, at this moment there’s only 3 left on the store and it’s not coming back!

You can buy Jindie Nails polishes from JindieNails.com or from authorized distributors. You can find the latest news, releases and restock info from their FB and IG.

Mavala – 310 Espresso with some nail art

10

This manicure is quick and simple but I really liked it.

The base color is Mavala Espresso from their Fall 2014 Sublime collection. Espresso has an excellent formula. It applies very smoothly and evenly and is opaque with two coats. Dry time was quick and it didn’t stain my nails or cuticles when removed.

For this manicure I used a coat of Essie Fill The Gap and Glisten & Glow Stuck On Blu! base coats, two coats of Espresso and HK Girl top coat. Stamping was done with OPI Love.Music.Angel.Baby velvet matte polish and Born Pretty Store stamping plate (you can use the code NZL91 for -10% off).
