Cult Nails – Coveted

4
Today I have a real treat for all of you green polish lovers out there, Cult Nails Coveted. This is a deep emerald green jelly, with flakes and a lot of very fine shimmer. I kept staring and admiring my nails constantly when I was wearing this. Truly a stunning one!

Formula on this is great, it applies smoothly and two coats is enough for semi-opaque result. As a jelly this is never fully opaque and it’s also the jelly finish that gives this one the amazing glow. Some of the flakes were a bit bigger and could be felt but a top coat smooth down most of those. Dry time was very quick with Inm Out The Door fast dry top coat. I wore this for two days and had no chipping or tip wear issues. This was perfect in every way!

If this was love at first sight for you too I suggest you don’t think about it too long. Coveted is a limited edition polish and can be purchased along with other Cult Nails polishes from their website here.

Models Own – Naked Shimmer

16

Here’s yet another discount basket find from a local store. This time it’s Models Own Naked Shimmer. As the name hints, this a nude polish with gold shimmer. Unfortunately shimmer isn’t as visible on the nail as it is in the bottle but you can still see it. This neutral toned flesh-y nude is probably suitable for many different skintones. I quite liked this myself, shade is pretty chic and sophisticated!

The formula was a bit on the thick side and this might benefit from a drop or two of polish thinner. In this mani I used two coats of polish but the result could’ve been even better with three thin coats. The smell on this was also quite strong but all five of my new Models Own bottles smell the same so I guess that is normal.

In all this was quite positive first experience with Models Own nail polish and didn’t make me regret the four other shades I bought along with this one ;)

Wet n Wild Megalast – Heatwave

6

Is it spring yet!? This Wet n Wild Megalast Heatwave, a delicious and lovely coral red creme polish made me feel like spring is right around the corner. I bought this from a local store when I went hunting for cheap nail polish on sale and decided to get one of these WnW bottles too just to try it out. There were other pretty pastel shades too and I was so pleased with this one that I just might have to go pick up another bottle (or two) later on.

When I opened the bottle naturally the first thing I noticed was a very large brush. I think my exact words were “Oh! Holy crap, look at this!” as I turned to show my finding to my husband. Of course he had no idea what I was so amazed by so he just rolled his eyes at my craziness. It took a little bit of getting used to but the brush was actually pretty easy to use and polish applied nicely with it.

Heatwave was very well pigmented, even so well that I wonder if it would work for stamping. Two coats was more than enough for opaque result and dry time was short with Inm Super Fast Dry Top Coat. The color range is, I’d like to say safe, on these Megalast polishes but there was a few really pretty pastels too.

You own any Wet n Wild Megalast polishes and if so what do you think of them?

Different Dimension – Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty

10
Here’s my first indie polish, Different Dimension Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty. I love Big Bang Theory and I just had to get this polish for it’s name too. This is milky grey jelly with different size white, grey and holographic silver hexglitter. The polish lives up to it’s name and the result is soft and smooth, sandwich effect-y finish.

Polish itself is high quality, a little bit on the thicker side but applies very well. The larger glitter laid very flat on the nail and you can’t feel the edges through the top coat. I love that! Glitter came out of the bottle well after I kept it upside down for a bit and rolled it a couple of times before applying each coat. I also let the coats dry in between the application so the glitter didn’t start moving with the next coat. Next I’m going to try layering this with white, grey or baby blue polish. I’m very happy with my first indie purchase :)

On this mani I used two coats of base coat, three coats of Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty and Inm Out The Door Fast Drying Top Coat. Dry time for three coats was very fast with Inm top coat.

I ordered my polish from here.

ABC Challenge – A is for Age Of Aquarius

14

I decided to join the ABC Challenge that is hosted by Kimber from Kimber’s Lacquer Corner. There’s quite a few of us doing this challenge and it’s not too late to join in if you’re interested. Just contact Kimber and come aboard, the more the merrier. We are posting once a week, on Wednesdays and rules are really simple. You choose a polish, brand or style of nail art that starts with a certain letter, naturally this week it’s A, next is B and so on.

I had actually already started this challenge on my own before Kimber announced that she is starting it and I post the letter A already. So I’ll be lazy and use the same polish, Color Club Age Of Aquarius and photo for this too :P

Golden Rose Matte Velvet – 103

2

I found these Golden Rose polishes from a discount basket at a local store for 50 cents a bottle and decided to buy the blue shade number 103. I figured that for 50 cents it wouldn’t be such a great financial loss if it ended up being something awful. Also my 9 yr old niece gladly takes all the nail polish bottles I give her so I wouldn’t have to throw it in the trash either.

This polish ended up surprising me positively though. It applied well and was opaque with just one coat (I still used two coats). Dry time was very quick and I really like the color too. Without a top coat this dried to a nice velvet-y semi matte finish. I don’t have too many blue polishes so this one got to move into my polish drawer and make friends with other cheap polish bottles ;)

Top coat just ads a bit of shine to it

OPI – On Her Majesty’s Secret Service

6
By far I have only bought two polishes from OPI Skyfall Holiday 2012 collection and here’s the first one, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Blue-ish grey shimmer polish packed with multicolored microglitter. This changes color depending on lights and angle. It’s a bit on a sheer side but three thin coats was enough for opaque result on my nails. Dry time was very fast with a little help from Inm Super Fast Drying Top Coat. I have no complaints, gorgeous polish!

ABC – A as Age Of Aquarius Color Club

0

I’ve seen this ABC-theme on Jos edes kynnet and Charming Nails blogs. It’s such a fun idea that I decided to do it myself too. The idea is to go through your stash and choose a polish that starts with a particular letter, starting from A, then B and so on. I’ll try and choose polishes that I haven’t used/photographed yet or I use very rarely.

For my letter A polish I chose Color Club Age Of Aquarius from their Poptastic neon collection. Gorgeous turquoise shade that was a pain in the butt to photograph. I had to adjust the color on the photo a lot to get it to look even near of what it is IRL. I think it’s still a tiny bit darker and greener in real life than it is on my photo.

On this mani I used three coats of polish and a top coat since Age Of Aquarius is neon and dries matte finish. This one is just lovely!

Holiday theme month: Green-ish gold manicure again

2

It was a time for the gold manicure again. Gold is just such a perfect color for this Holiday season that I can’t get enough of it. Again I used two coats of Color Club Editorial and on top of that a coat of Color Club Sultry Diva, golden glitter polish. This looked just lovely IRL. Editorial brought a hint of green to the gold glitter and the finish ended up being an interesting sandy/gritty looking.

I thought it would be a real pain removing this mani but to my surprise it was very easy. I might someday be brave enough to try Sultry Diva alone without fearing the removing process.

Macro-shot. Sultry Diva is all gold glitter so it must be Editorial that is
changing some of it to appear green.

Holiday theme month: Color Club Ho-Ho-Holly

2
Green is always a great color choice for the Holiday season. Color Club’s Ho-Ho-Holly is part of their new Winter Affair Holiday 2012 collection.
It’s a green foil packed with gold shimmer. This polish is opaque with two coats and dry time is normal.
In this mani I used:  OPI Natural Nail Strengthener x2, Ho-Ho-Holly x2 and INM Out The Door Super fast drying top coat.
