Color Club Oooooo La La with Snow-Flakes

0
This time I wanted a lighter, fresh looking manicure. I decided to use Color Club’s Oooooo La La (Spring 2009 Femme Fatale) and Snow-Flakes (Holiday 2012 Winter Affair) polishes together.
I applied two coats of pearly white Oooooo La La and one coat of Snow-Flakes. I think it would’ve been better with two coats of each polish but I was afraid of a long dry time. Snow-Flakes brings depth and beautiful shine to the white polish and it looks a lot colder shade layered with white than it does in the bottle.
Unfortunately my camera couldn’t capture what the mani really looked like and all of it’s little color changes. Peachy-pink shimmer on the nail doesn’t show up on these photos at all.

Color Club – Berry and Bright

2

Here’s Color Club Berry and Bright from their new Winter Affair collection. Bright shimmer-microglitter red polish. This was opaque with just one coat. Removing was a bit slower than usual cos of all the shimmer and microglitter in it, but not too annoying.

This is a beautiful and glowing shade, perfect for the upcoming Holiday season :)

I’m just so annoyed by these short nail photos that I’ll most likely photograph these ugly nail pic polishes again someday.

In this mani I used: OPI Natural Nail Strengthener x2, Berry and Bright x2 and INM Out The Door Super fast drying top coat.

OPI – Vampsterdam

2
I got this one from eBay months ago but since the color seemed more appropriate for fall I have waited until now to try it out.Vampsterdam is deep burgundy plum-y shade with fine shimmer and a hint of frost in it. Application is flawless like with all the other Holland collection polishes I have tried. First coat is almost opaque but the second one really brings out the deep shade. Drying time was quick with a fast drying top coat and it stayed on well without chipping. Excellent polish!
My nails are really short right now cos I’m growing out the part that got damaged by the gel nails. Also my ring finger nail is again longer than the other nails and tip of the finger sticks out not looking too pretty. I hurt it when I was a kid and the tip of the finger had to be stitched back on. Hopefully my nails grow fast and soon I’ll have some prettier pics to show you.

In this mani I used: OPI Natural Nail Strengthener x2, Vampsterdam x2 and INM Out The Door fast drying top coat.

Color Club – Warhol

3

Since my iPhone 4S has been able to take such accurate pics of my daughters pink clothes and Hello Kitty blanket I decided to test if it works well on pink nail polish too. Photo turned out ok and the color is probably a little closer to reality than it would be if I took the photo using my regular camera.

Warhol is coral-y neon-pink polish. It dries fast and the finish is semi-matte without a topcoat. This needs at least two, rather three coats to be opaque. The shade of pink is delicious on this one :)

In this mani I used Nail Tek II x2, Warhol x2 and Seche Vite.

NARS Zulu (new version)

3

Been a long time again since I wrote my last blog post. Seems I have absolutely no time for my nail addiction at the moment. Maybe spring, sunshine and longer days will fix that :)

NARS Zulu is a nail polish legend of some sort. Back in the days when it was discontinued if you could even find a bottle of Zulu, it cost you an arm and a leg on eBay. NARS brought Zulu back in a limited edition collection of popular discontinued shades and of course I took an opportunity to get myself a bottle of the green greatness too. As you might know, I’m a sucker for green

Application was good and two coats was enough for my short nails. Under a bright light tips are somewhat visible so for longer nails you might want to add a third coat. Dry time was pretty fast with Seche Vite. I did this mani yesterday and the tip wear you see in the photo is mostly cos I was in a hurry and applied Seche Vite too thickly.

My nails are still short and not an even length due to the lack of time and basically I’ve just been too lazy to take care of my hands. I think this is the first time I have color polish on my nails this year…

In this mani I used: Nail Tek II x2, Zulu x2 and Seche Vite.

Misa – Shields Up

5

Here’s my review of Misa Shields Up multichrome polish that I promised for today. This is a beautiful lilac polish that has green and grey tones to it plus some silver micro-glitter. Very discreet shade that has just the thing to make it something that people will notice. I was a little afraid the shade would be too cold for my warm toned skin but luckily I was wrong and it looks beautiful on me.

Shields Up is pretty sheer and applies nicely. It would require at least three coats but I only did two since I read Scrangie‘s review about these polishes and found out that they might bubble and the drying time is a bit on the long side. First I applied two coats of Poshe base coat and let dry very well. Then I applied one thin coat of Shields Up. I waited about 10 minutes before applying the second coat. Once again I used Seche Vite as top coat.

Even though I tried to be careful with the application the polish still bubbled a little bit. Also the dry time was long. I still managed to get the mani all dried up without denting it once and Seche Vite made some of the bubbles disappear. IRL you can’t really see the bubbles unless you look really closely but they are pretty obvious on the photo. Anyways, this is such a nice polish that it’s worth a little trouble.

This one was really hard to photograph so that the true beauty of it would be captured. On the first photo you can see the light lilac which is the main color of this polish. On the second photo you see how it looks green depending on the light and angle the light hits your nails. On a certain light it can also look silver grey.

In this mani I used: Poshe base coat x2, Shields Up x2 and Seche Vite on top.

Color Club – Best Dressed List

3

Here’s something a little more neutral after the leopard nails. This kind of shade is always a good choice when your nails aren’t an even length and/or shape. It doesn’t stand out too much and make the little flaws more obvious. This was a perfect polish to choose for my nails right now. Caramel-y shade also flatters my warm skintone (which looks cold in this photo for some reason). I find this shade to be quite elegant and I have to use this again when my nails are longer.

Best Dressed List is quite well pigmented and applies like a dream. One coat was enough for an opaque result for my nails. Longer nails will require two coats. Drying time was also quite quick with Seche Vite.

In this mani I used: Poshe Nail Strengthening Treatment base coat x2, Best Dressed List x1 and Seche Vite on top.

Color Club – Pucci-Licious

5

I got tired of the pink glitter on my nails and decided to cheer myself up with some nail polish. I chose Color Club’s Pucci-Licious for that and it did it’s job perfectly. This shade is from CC’s neon collection although it’s not exactly a neon color.

IRL my nails look great but on the photo they look too big and tips are too round. Camera has no mercy on me and my nails as usual ;)

This is an interesting color. On the other hand it’s strikingly beautiful and then again it’s just your everyday creme. Either way I love it and on these nails it looks fierce.

Quality on this is excellent and it’s opaque with two coats (obviously not a neon shade then). This dries semi-matte so you shine junkies out there need a topcoat with this one.

In this mani I used Pucci-Licious x2 and Seche Vite on top.

My skin tone on the photo looks weird cos I had to adjust the camera settings and also adjust the colors with photoshop. This was one of those pain-in-the-ass shades to photograph. No matter what you do it looks too blue *sigh* I think I got the color to look pretty accurate though (on my monitor anyways).

Sephora by OPI – Cab Fare

5

Here’s photos of Sephora by OPI Cab Fare polish. Bright yellow shade with yellow, pink and green shimmer.

Yellow polishes are usually like nightmares to apply but this one was great. Though this time the problem was the fact that Cab Fare is very sheer. Three coats wasn’t enough for an opaque result and I don’t think a fourth coat would’ve made much of a difference. Should try this over a layer of white polish for more opaque result.

As I said this applied very well and three coats dried quickly with Seche Vite. As sheer as this was I still love it!

The closeup photo is very blurry and I was just trying to get the shimmer to show up a little.

Sephora by OPI – Leaf Him At The Altar

4

Let’s continue with the Sephora by OPI mini collection polishes. This time I’m wearing gorgeous green shade, Leaf Him At The Altar. This one is a metallic-frost (or something of the sort) polish. In my collection this is unique and it’s a totally beautiful color. This is clearly green and doesn’t have for example gold tones in it.

Application was alright and two coats was enough for my nails. Longer nails probably need the third coat. Drying time was short with a little help from Seche Vite. Brush strokes are somewhat visible but it doesn’t look bad at all. For all of you green lovers out there this is a shade worth owning.

In this mani I used Nail Tek II x1, Leaf Him At The Altar x2 and Seche Vite to dry it all up nice and fast.
