Color Club – Rule Breaker and With Abandon

5

Here’s the first two pics from the new Color Club Wild At Heart collection. I can’t really say anything about how long these stay without chipping or how long they take to dry since I only swatched them quickly and took the photos. I’ll get back at that later on.

Rule Breaker is a gorgeous green with a hint of blue in it and this is a good candidate for my first test with Essie’s Matte About You (if the mail man ever delivers that to my mailbox). Rule Breaker is well pigmented and applies smooth as butter. I’m still a sucker for green and this is a true winner for me!

With Abandon is a dark black/brown-ish polish with gold micro-glitter. In this one the glitter stays clearly visible on the nails and this is a truly beautiful shade. I used this to do my mom’s mani and this looked awesome on very short nails too. With Abandon takes two coats to be opaque and applies pretty smoothly too.

Both pics are taken with only two coats of polish and no base or top coat.

My photo used without permission

Link to the sellers store

Someone was friendly enough to inform me about an eBay seller using my photo and she/he wanted to make sure the seller has my permission to use the photo. Well of course the seller didn’t have permission and I have already contacted both eBay and the seller asking them to take the photo down immediately. This one was too lazy to even cut out my blog address from the top of the photo. The seller seems to have other peoples photos there too so if you know who those photos belong to you should inform the person and make sure they gave a permission to use those photos.

You guys should also always inform the person who owns the rights to the photo if you see familiar looking swatch or other photos somewhere other than the copyright owners own site. These poopyheads stealing other peoples work pisses me off!!

**Edit** The eBay seller has now removed the picture he/she stole from me and replaced it with a pic of a polish bottle. My China Glaze Code Orange picture is what was up on the page earlier. This time the stolen pic was only an amateur photo of someone’s nails but I bet this happens a lot to real professionals too. Either way using someone’s photo without permission is a bad bad thing to do and you should always report the person doing it no matter how small the matter seems to be.

Dior 5 Couleurs Iridescent – 809 Petal Shine

2

Here’s a quick and easy makeup done with Dior 5 Couleurs eyeshadow palette Petal Shine. This palette is Iridescent finish. All the colors on this one are well pigmented and apply smoothly. Iridescent finish also practically blends itself so it’s perfect for quick and beautiful look.

As usual I applied UDPP on the whole lid first. Then I used shade 3 closest to the lashes, almost up to the crease. Above that I applied shade 4 and then shade 5 on the top. At this point the shades are already pretty well blended. Either way I still used a big brush to make the shades slide into each other. After that I used shade 2 to blend the outline and highlight the browbone. After the blending I applied shade 1 to the crease using a brush. This is done the last cos I want the shade to be clearly visible. Shade 1 doesn’t need any blending in this case.

Revlon Runway Collection Nails

1

A while back our mailman was nice enough to bring me six packages of Revlon Runway Collection nails. I just haven’t had time to do an actual post about them until now. This will be a quick introduction to these nails and the post about putting them on and using them will have to wait until my sister has time to come by and let me use her nails for this. The nails I got are Medium lenght with different french tip designs. A quick look showed that the nails are quite thin and flexible, which will help them look more natural. I really like the tip design on these, quite elegant and stylish looking. One package includes 24 nails in 12 different sizes, a file, a manicure stick and bottle of glue. The instructions can be found from the backside of the package.

Revlon Runway Collection nails seem to be pretty good quality and the package has everything you need to use them. I’m looking forward to testing these for real :)

Sinful Colors – #79 Opal Glitter

3

This time I decided to try a glitter polish that actually is supposed to be very sheer, Sinful Colors’ Opal Glitter. Like the Mavalas on yesterday’s post this is best for layering with colored polishes. I was feeling like a more natural looking mani so I chose to wear this alone. The polish itself is nothing too special, just multi-colored glitter in a clear base. In the bottle this looks a bit milky white but on the nails it’s clear.

Opal Glitter is quite thin and applies pretty well. Three coats didn’t take forever to dry with Poshe. I also think this should be easy to remove since there isn’t too much glitter on my nails.

In this mani I used: OPI NNS x2, Opal Glitter x3 and Poshe on top.

New Mavala glitters – Blue and Purple

5

I saw the new Mavala Fall 2009 collection Happy Colours in a store and decided to buy two shades to test them out. I ended up getting Glitter Purple and Glitter blue. The entire collection has six glitter polishes. Cos I’m still traumatized from removing a glitter mani last night I didn’t want to test these on my nails quite yet ;)

Both of the polishes have a clear base with colored glitter. The clear base polish made me think they might not be very opaque. These might be better for layering instead of being worn alone. I’m also thinking about pimping them a little bit. Maybe adding more glitter and/or colored polish.

In the bottle these shades look bright and beautiful but a quick test on a piece of plastic tape reveals the truth. Regardless of the beautiful colors these have very little coverage. I applied quite a lot of polish on the tape and you won’t have that much glitter on your nails with just one coat. Though I think these will spark up your manicure nicely when you layer them with the right kind of polish.

Getting over my fear of glitter polish!

5

I managed to destroy my green Aragon manicure pretty fast and I tried to save the situation with a coat of Color Club Magic Attraction glitter polish. This is from last year’s Color Club Glitter Vixen collection that had seven gorgeous glitter polishes in it.

With this mani I’m also trying to get rid of my fear for glitter polish or more like the fear of removing it. Glitter polishes are absolutely gorgeous to look at but removing them is a big pain in the butt :/ This time I’m going to use acetone nail polish remover and let it sit on the nail for a bit before trying to remove the polish. We’ll see how that works out this time or will I once again swear that I’ll never use glitter polish again ;)

In the pic I have one coat of Magic Attraction and one coat of Poshe on top of my dark green OPI Here Today…Aragon Tomorrow manicure.

Green makeup

4

Today’s makeup look is green (of course matched with my nails and lovely Aragon). For this I used YSL 5 Colour Harmony For Eyes palette number 6. As you can see from the swatch pic this is not as well pigmented as Dior eyeshadows, but with a good primer this works wonders. The highlighter shade in the middle is quite glittery and useless but the others are good quality.

On this look I applied UDPP first as usual and then shade 2 on the inner corner of my eye, shade 4 in the middle and shade 5 on the outer corner. I also used shade 1 to blend the outline slightly. All the shades go up to crease. Cos I didn’t want the eyeliner to be too dark or look too sharp I used MAC Paint Pot Cash Flow as the eyeliner and mascara is again Helena Rubinstein’s Lash Queen.

This is pretty light day makeup but using black cream eyeshadow underneath this you can create a really dramatic look.

OPI – Here Today…Aragon Tomorrow

5

Stunning dark green Here Today…Aragon Tomorrow from OPI Fall/Winter 2009 España collection. Really dark green shade that looks almost black in some lights. This polish has a tiny bit of shimmer in it but so little that it’s almost impossible to see on the nails. This is a really beautiful green and again it’s a must have to all you green nail polish lovers out there!

Here Today…Aragon Tomorrow is really thin in the bottle and the application wasn’t best possible. It was surprisingly see-through on the first coat but the second coat smooth it down a lot. After the third coat all was perfectly smooth and it dried pretty fast with a little help from Poshe.

In this mani I used: Nail Tek II Intensive Therapy x2, Here Today…Aragon Tomorrow x3 and Poshe on top.

Quick work makeup

3

Yesterday I tried to photograph my first makeup pics for this blog but I managed to look like a crossbreed of a frog and a weird blowfish so you’ll just see they eye ;) Anyways I think you can see the makeup well enough from these pics too. This is a very basic look and easy to do even if you don’t have a lot of experience.

For this I used Dior 5 Couleurs eyeshadow palette Earth Tones and underneath it all I have Urban Decay’s Primer Potion. On my lashes I have Wet n Wild mascara primer ( which doesn’t seem to work too well for me but more about that in another post) and Helena Rubinstein’s Lash Queen mascara. Cos this was a very quick makeup I didn’t use eyeliner at all.

First I applied UDPP and then Earth Tones shade 5 closest to the lashes, shade 4 above that to the crease and then shade 2 on the top. I blended the shades together with a big brush. Cos I wanted to keep the round shape of my eyes I blended the shawod using a downwards movement towards the lashes. On the bottom lid I have shade 4 on the outer side and shade 2 towards the corner of my eye.

For this look you can use any eyeshadow and color. Blending the eyeshadows down towards your lashes makes sure you can’t end up with color up to your eyebrows. From eyeshadow primer to the mascara it takes about 5 mins to finish a makeup like this so this is also perfect for busy people.
