Wet n Wild – Rocking In Rubies

8

I just had to test my new Wet n Wild polish right away. Rockin In Rubies is bright red polish with red and gold shimmer. Though you can only see the gold shimmer in the bottle, on the nails it’s all looking red. This one is really flaming red and quite beautiful.

Rockin In Rubies is pretty thin and runs on your cuticles pretty easy. After two coats I still had visible nail line so I could’ve actually used three. Still this is pretty well pigmented for a cheap polish. It also took quite a while to dry. Anyways, I can forgive all of this cos it’s such a pretty shade ;) Now I’m just hoping it’ll stay on a few days without chipping.

In this mani I used: OPI NNS x2, Rocking In Rubies x2 and Poshe to dry it all.

Yesterday when I removed my last mani I noticed all the nails on my right hand have started peeling. After cursing and swearing for a while I realised why this is happening. At work while doing gel and acrylic nails I use this disinfecting cleaner and that must be drying up my nails. So I guess I should finally get them damn gloves and start wearing them too or I can kiss goodbye to my wishes of having long and healthy nails. I hope the peeling will calm down instead of turning into a nail breakage festival.

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear – Plum Power

4

Here’s the next polish I got from my trip, Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear shade Plum Power. Not a very unique color but still very beautiful. This was good for my collection cos I didn’t have a similar polish yet. This purple shade is another great color for fall and it really does look plum-y.

Plum Power’s application wasn’t the best possible but it’s well pigmented. Two coats was quite enough. The negative thing I have to say is that this took forever to dry, even with Poshe. On the positive side, this seems to be well lasting. Three days and no chipping and the shine stays on. Average polish with a very reasonable price tag and it really is a pretty shade.

In this mani I used: OPI NNS x2, Plum Power x2 and Poshe on top.

Sephora by OPI – Never Enough Shoes

7
As a total shoe-freak I just had to get this nail polish just because of it’s name. Even got a laugh out of my husband showing him the name. Apparently it’s perfect for me ;)

Never Enough Shoes is a nice, average nail polish. Many bloggers describe it as black but to me it looks more like very dark brown. It also has very fine, multi-colored micro-glitter in it. In a dimmer light you can’t really see the glitter and it just looks like a very dark creme polish

It’s quite thick in the bottle but not impossible to apply. I didn’t feel a need to use thinner yet. Two coats was enough for opaque result and this dried quickly.

In this mani I used: OPI NNS x2, Never Enough Shoes x2 and Poshe on top.

Color Club – Fast Woman

2

I couldn’t decide which one of my new polishes to test first so I chose one that I bought a couple of months back, Color Club Fast Woman. Fast Woman was too dark for my summer mood so I wanted to save it for more appropriate time of year. This is a perfect shade for fall. Deep red polish that doesn’t look like black in any light. Sunlight brings out the brilliant red shade this polish has. Vampy perfection in a bottle!

Fast Woman is well pigmented, quite thin in the bottle and it applies very well. Two coats was enough for an opaque result. Poshe also dried this one really fast. Good Color Club quality.

In this mani I used: OPI NNS x2, Fast Woman x2 and Poshe Super Fast Drying TopCoat. I took the photo in direct sunlight and the redness of it comes out real well. When there’s less light the shade is deeper and darker.

Like most likely most of you, I have also seen the swatches of the new Color Club Wild At Heart Fall 2009 Collection. I just can’t wait to get my hands on it. Two new holos too!! :D

Thank you Color Club for yet another great collection!!

Nail growing project – over three months later

4

I’ve now spent over 3 months growing my nails back to being long and healthy after having acrylic nails on. I still have a tiny bit of damaged nail left (if I filed my nails really short it would all be gone now). I have still been able to grow some length to my nails and they are starting to look much better. Of course I want my nails to be much longer but right now the length is looking pretty damn good after the short nails I had for so long ;) I still keep accidentally filing my index finger nail shorter while filing customers nails. Bad bad habit I need to get rid of.

On the pic I have 2 coats of OPI Natural Nail Strengthener on my nails.

Shopping!!

7

Here’s a few photos of some of the things I got from my vacation. New York was so hot and humid that I didn’t have energy to shop as much as I intended to. I didn’t even get as many bottles of nail polish that I thought I would. But I still got a few.

In the beginning of our vacation we spent 4 days at the east coast. Then we flew to Midwest (Davenport, IA) to spend some time with the family for 3 days. After that we returned to Long Beach, NY for the rest of the vacation before flying back home. We had a great time and it was a very good vacation. We spent two whole days walking around New York City and there’s still so much to see. We’ll be going back there someday. I’ll upload some vacation photos too some time :)

Here’s photos of some of the things I got from my vacation

Vacation!

3

I’m on a vacation right now and enjoying sunny Long Beach, NY. I’ll be back in about week and a half with a lot of new stuff to show you guys! Already got a few bottles of nail polish today ;)

Nail growing project still continues

5

It’s been quite a while again and I apologize for that!

My nail growing project still continues. I haven’t started to grow length to my nails yet but the part the acrylic damaged has almost grown out. My nails are growing faster now and I don’t think it’ll be much longer till it’s all healthy and I can start growing them long again.

I still oil my nails and cuticles daily and a while ago I added Creative SolarOil and SolarBalm to my nail care products. Those have worked wonders on my nails.

Next week I’m going for a vacation in USA and I hope to find a LOT of new nail care products and polishes from my trip :D I also finally got around to buy a new camera. I hope that will help me to take better quality photos for my blog.

Random gel nails once again

7

Past few days have been so busy again that I’ve had no time to think about blog postings. So here’s a random gel nail photo again. This time it’s a very simple design with pink tip and some silver glitter.

Dior Vernis – 663 Indian Saffron

3

I found this beautiful looking Dior Vernis from a local beauty store sale and I just had to have it. In the bottle it’s coral-y glittery goodness and I had high expectations for it. On the nail it was a total bummer. First coat brought just a tiny bit of glitter on my nails and even the base color looked different than in the bottle, not fresh and bright at all. The result you see in the photo took five(!!) coats and i still have visible nail line even on my short nails. This was a most disappointing nail polish I’ve tried in a long while.

Indian Saffron did apply excellent and even the five coats dried quite quickly with Seche vite. I’m going to try layering this with other polishes sometime to see if it works any better that way.

Even with all the glitter and five coats this was quite easy to remove and it stayed on my nails for a couple of days without chipping.

In this mani I used: OPI NNS x2, Indian Saffron x5 and Seche Vite. It’s quite a pretty shade in the photo but five coats is just a bit too much for me :/
