Time for another LivBox, a cosmetics subscription box only available in Finland but many products in it are usually international.
It was quite a nice box this month too. Most of the products I will definitely test and use.
I did a quick test on Bangerhead Fresh Me Up! dry shampoo and though it smelled very nice it was also a little too lightweight for my taste. It’s supposed to add volume to my hair but I can’t say I really saw or felt a difference. I will definitely give this another try later on.
Lumene Bright Now Vitamin C Shine Control Cream-Gel for face. I did a quick test on this too. Felt pretty light weight as you would expect a gel like cream to feel like. The scent was also very nice and fruity. I didn’t see a clear matte effect immediately but I will have to test this under makeup to really give my opinion on it. So review might be coming up later on.
Dove Advanced Hair Series Oxygen Moisture shampoo and conditioner came in travel size tubes. I had a moment to test these already. The shampoo is clear and gel like, lathers well and washes your hair clean. Though it left my hair feeling kinda heavy which is weird result for a product that is meant for fine and flat hair. Conditioner made my hair silky smooth and easy to comb through. After my hair was dry it was shiny and really smooth but also pretty flat. Though I love the silky feeling on my hair now I still expected a different result. I will probably use these tubes but won’t buy these again.
Best product in this box for me was Rimmel Provocalips 310 Little Minx since I love Provocalips lip colors and I didn’t have this shade yet. I will have a review for these lip colors later on.
There was also Nailfix cuticle oil (Finnish brand) which I most likely won’t use on my nails since I swear on Bliss Kiss Pure Nail Oil. This oil comes with a hygienic dropper so I might use this on my toes when I do my pedicures.
At last there was two perfume samples. Calvin Klein Reveal for men smelled absolutely divine on my husband so we’ll definitely be buying a bottle of this later on. Chloé Love Story was a floral scent and not my kind of scent at all. I gotta give that one to my mother cos it’s something she might like. I myself like my perfumes sweeter and heavier.
Today it’s time to take a quick look at Lookfantastic February Beauty Box. If you’re still waiting for yours and don’t want to know what’s inside then don’t scroll down any further ;)
This was my third LF Beauty Box and I’m still pretty pleased with the products inside. Previous boxes have introduced new to me products that I have started using on a daily basis. This time the nice surprise was that there wasn’t a supplement product in this box. I’m not crazy about those and much rather take some cosmetics products instead.
Moroccanoil Treatment (for all hair types) 25 ml
This is a product that I use regularly and like very much. My last bottle is almost empty so this was a nice surprise. Also my hair has very little damaged part left and it would’ve been a waste of money to buy a new bigger bottle since I won’t need to use this much longer. As good as this oil is it’s too heavy for my natural, undamaged hair and makes it look oily really easily. I think that by the time I have used this bottle it’s also time to cut the dry lengths off.
Monu Illuminating Primer 20 ml
This is a new to me brand and I’m excited to test this product. Quick test on my hand and cheek showed that this white primer brings a nice amount of light an glow and instead of feeling silicone-y and smooth it leaves a bit of a tacky feeling on your skin. I feel a review coming up later on.
Korres Citrus Little Body Milk 50 ml
I like Korres as a brand but this product is not for me. The scent is way too masculine and strong so this is going to go to my husband and he’ll probably use it as hand lotion if he can live with the strong scent. I can’t say much about how this moisturizes and so on since I’m not willing to even test this further. The scent is by no means bad. It just simply smells too masculine for me to want to apply it on my skin.
Dr PawPaw Original Balm 10 ml
This is a heavy feeling balm that is mentioned to be suitable for lips, skin, hair, cuticles and nails. So it sounds like that you can use this for what ever part of your body feels dry. I did a quick test on my dry lips and cuticles and this felt quite good. Another plus for being scent and flavor free. This might be a product I’ll end up buying more of after I’m done with this little tube.
Erno Lazzlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar 17 g
This product also interests me a lot. This is a bar soap for your face. Directions say to wet the bar and gently massage your face and neck with it. Continue massaging with your fingers and at last rinse off with water. This is supposed to gently exfoliate and clean your face without removing natural oils from your skin. I will definitely test this and there might be a review coming up later on too.
Bellapierre Cosmetics Natural Lip Liner No. 01
LF page says this is made of 100% natural pigments and promises waterproof wear. Unfortunately the shade is brown so I don’t really have use for this. I might still test this just to see if the waterproof claim is accurate.
This is LivBox, a monthly cosmetics subscription box that is only available in Finland. I’m writing about this cos even if the box itself is only available here in Finland it usually has products in it that are internationally available.
I tried this box for three months last year and wasn’t too impressed. Now I decided to give it another try for a few months and this time I quite liked this first box I got. Most interesting products for me were the new Lumene Nude Perfection Fluid Foundation and Nivea 3-in-1 Micellar Cleansing Water.
A quick testing of the new Lumene foundation gave me a very positive first impression and I’ll have a review up for this after using it a few more times. I’ve been hearing good things about micellar waters but never actually remember to buy any when I’m out shopping so it was perfect to find one from this box.
I also haven’t tried In-Shower body lotions so I’m excited to try the Eucerin one. I’m pretty bad when it comes to body lotions after shower cos I usually don’t have time to wait for them to absorb. So this might be perfect for me.
I don’t really have an opinion about the Fructis Densify Lengths Plumper leave in conditioner for hair yet. I’ll give it a try and let you know what I thought of it later on.
Paese eyeshadow in Kashmir was a little meh, but it might be a good color for contouring or brows so maybe I’ll get some use out of this one too. If not I’ll just give it to my mother. She likes these kind of matte shades.
There was also a necklace as a Valentines Day surprise.
All in all this was a good one for me and now I’m really looking forward to testing these products and receiving another box next month :)
Today I thought I’d share my nail care routines with you and show you some of the products I use. Earlier this year I removed my gel nails and grew back my natural nails. I’ve also done a lot of reading at NailCareHQ.com and found some very useful articles.
I just received my first LF Beauty Box yesterday and here’s what I found inside
This was my first Lookfantastic
Beauty Box and I was quite pleased with what it had to offer. I’m really bad when it comes to skincare so it’s great for me to get new products to test and use like this.
I really needed an oil for my face so the Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil was just perfect. It has a strong citrus scent to it and I’m allergic to citrus. So I applied a small amount of this on my face last night and no reaction. I’m gonna start using this and I’ll keep you updated if I was able to continue even if I’m allergic.
The Macadamia Oil comb might not be good for my thin hair as it might make my hair look oily. I will definitely give it a try though. If the comb doesn’t work for me it will be perfect for my daughter who has thick, down to her hips long hair that is always a mess after a day of being an active, almost 5 year old kid.
I’ve heard good things about the Murad Cleanser so I’m also very excited to try that. The makeup in the box is also interesting to me and well, there’s no such thing as too much makeup so keep ’em coming :D
The only thing I wasn’t excited about was the Gold Collagen food supplement. I don’t see the point of testing something you need to use for weeks to see the result and only having one day worth of the product. I guess you can find out how it tastes and if your stomach can stand it but I would’ve rather had something else instead of this.
All in all, the box was a positive experience and I’m excited to try most of these products :) Now I have to seriously consider getting January’s box :D

Happy Saturday lovelies! Instead of nail polish I have Sally Hansen Cuticle Rehab cuticle oil to talk about today. This is not your typical cuticle oil. Cuticle Rehab comes in a tube with a brush and has gel like formula. I have been testing this for a while now and I absolutely love it!
This is perfect for daily use to keep your cuticles pretty all day long. Small tube is easy to carry in your purse/makeup pouch. With the gel formula and the tightly closing cap there’s pretty much no risk of this leaking into your purse ruining everything in it. There’s no knocking the bottle over and having oil go all over your desk or clothes. Very easy and safe to use when ever your cuticles need a little love and care to look beautiful and well moisturized.
Application process is quick, easy and mess free. Just squeeze the tube lightly to get some gel in to the brush and then apply it to your cuticles, rub the product in and you’re good to go. This moisturizes your cuticles instantly but doesn’t leave them sticky or oily. Even if you massage the product into your nails and cuticles it doesn’t leave your fingers oily either. The scent is just lovely too, fresh and “green”, not too overpowering.
I use this at least couple of times during the day or when ever needed. I still use thick cuticle cream at nights but this has been a perfect addition to my cuticle care needs. I have young kids and I’m constantly washing my hands. I hate it when my cuticles look dry by noon and this product offers a significant help keeping my hands pretty. I can just apply it and move on! No need to wait for it to dry or wipe excess oil off my fingers.
If you have dry cuticles problem and you find oils too messy to use during the day I highly recommend you give this product a try. I know I love it!

Today I have a non nail related post for you. Sometimes I like to post about makeup, skin care products and other stuff too. Lately I just haven’t gotten around to do other things than just nail posts. Today I want to share an awesome LUSH product with you. I have previously talked about Ocean Salt facial scrub and using it for your hands. As good as it is for your hands it’s even better for your face and this one works wonders for me, leaving my skin silky smooth.
Ocean Salt has quite creamy and thick texture and clearest scent to me is lime. The scent has a tropical feel to it but it’s in no way sweet. It’s a fresh citrus scent.
I like to use this as a mask. I apply a thin layer of Ocean Salt on my face and step into a sauna for 10 mins. This feels a little too rough for my skin to be used like a normal scrub. Heat in the sauna smooths the product and the exfoliating effect is softer. It also seems to moisturize my skin when used as a mask in the sauna. After about ten mins I wash this off with a circular motion exfoliating the skin. At this point it’s smoother than straight from the jar but still gets the job done very well.
Ocean Salt leaves my skin feeling amazing. Silky smooth, almost weightless feeling. It’s hard to describe the effect after adding heat to the mix but it’s pretty much out of this world :D I’ve tried using this outside of sauna too. I apply it the same way and leave it on my face for ten mins during shower. Works great that way too but the humidity and heat seems to add the perfection to it.
I always use the extra Ocean Salt left on my fingers to quickly exfoliate my hands too. You can use this as a body scrub too but for me it’s a bit too pricey for that. So I just use this on my face and I absolutely love it!

Here’s part two of my three part post for how I try and keep my hands soft and smooth for these cold winter months. You can read the Part 1 here.
Last time I talked about hand soaps and scrubs. So now that the hands are washed and exfoliated it’s time to talk about cuticle care. Main thing for me is to always keep my cuticles well moisturized and pushing them back regularly. If I don’t push my cuticles back they tend to get stuck on the nail bed and tear. That’s painful and horrible looking on swatch photos. I usually just use my nails to gently push the cuticles back while in the shower or after using the scrub when the skin is soaked a little. I never push back dry cuticles cos that is just painful. If I’ve been lazy taking care of my cuticles I sometimes use products like OPI Avoplex Exfoliating Cuticle Treatment or CND Cuticle Eraser before I push them back.
I have a thin UV-gel layover protecting my own nails and help them grow to the length I like to keep them at. So I need to fix that layover regularly. When I do that I pay more attention to pushing my cuticles back and for that I use a metallic cuticle pusher. If you use this you have to be GENTLE or you’ll do more damage than good. In my opinion this is an unnecessary tool if you’re not going to apply gel or acrylic on your nails.
For moisturizing my cuticles I mostly use Lush Lemony Flutter nowadays. I also like Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle cream a lot. Both work wonders for my cuticles. Sometimes I also use cuticle oils like CND Solar Oil. I also apply the oils under my nails to moisturize the nail tips under the gel layover.
Like my hands, my cuticles also dry very easily. These are the products I use to keep them in a good condition. On the winter months I need to use more of these products and the daily use is very very important. On the third and final part of my skincare posts I will be talking about lotions and more about my skincare routines.
***All products mentioned on this blog post were purchased by me.
Winter is coming, weather outside is getting colder and air inside is getting drier. So I thought this would be the perfect time to tell you how take care of my hands and the products I use. This is going to be a three part post and I’ll start it off with hand wash and exfoliation.
My skin is quite sensitive and dries up very easily. During summer I can slack off and not moisturize my hands daily. When winter arrives it’s a whole another story. I have to be almost religious about moisturizing. If I’m not the skin on my hands will have bleeding cracks on knuckles and cuticles. Very painful and looks horrible too. I have two little kids, two dogs and I spend a lot of time at horse stables. I wash my hands a lot and they have to go through plenty of things during an average day. So on this three part post I show you some of my old favorites and some new to me products too to help me keep my hands soft and smooth. Some of these products might not be available internationally but I bet you can find similar products all over the world
I will start with hand soaps. I’ve noticed that regular soaps make my hands very dry and make my cuticles crack. So I’ve turned to more natural soaps. One of my favorites for every day use is Urtekram Brown Sugar hand soap. It dries my hands a lot less and my cuticles don’t crack using this soap. It washes my hands clean and the scent is very mild. This is the one soap I keep buying all the time.

As a new to me product I got to test LUSH Sultana of Soap bar soap that was recommended to me by the lovely ladies at LUSH Finland. This one is perfect for my dry hands. The lather feels so creamy and this leaves your hands feeling very nice after the wash. The dry, tight feeling I usually have on my skin after a wash is gone and the scent is absolutely lovely. The scent is quite strong and stays on your skin for some time. I’m very sensitive to some soap scents but this didn’t seem to be one of them. I tested this a couple of times at nights too so that I washed my hands with this right before going to bed. I sleep with my hands close to my face and I got no reaction at all even if I could smell the scent pretty well. You can use this soap on your whole body as well as your hands and as a big bonus it makes your bathroom smell oh so lovely!
I also like to exfoliate my hands regularly to remove the dead dry skin and help moisturizers work. One of my favorites is an organic sugar scrub. I think this is only available in Finland but I bet there’s a lot of similar products available in your area.
I also got to test LUSH Ocean Salt scrub. This one has quite a soft and smooth, almost creamy texture but it still exfoliates efficiently. Ocean Salt scrub leaves my skin feeling very soft and smooth. I even tested this without using lotion right after scrubbing and there was no tightness or dryness of the skin. This has a very freshening citrus scent that stays on your skin for a bit but doesn’t really smell through after applying the lotions. This is actually a facial scrub and there will be a post of how this works on my face coming up in a near future.
Here was part one of “How I take care of my hands and cuticles” and I do that by paying attention on the hand soaps I use and choosing the more gentle ones. Also, I don’t forget to get rid of that dead skin and I regularly use scrubs to exfoliate. On part two I will be talking about cuticle care and products I use for that.

Last year January-February the skin on my hands started to be in a horrible condition. There were deep cracks on my fingertips and cuticles and the skin on my knuckles was so dry that sometimes there was a bit of bleeding. This was partly caused by freezing weather but the biggest reason was taking care of a tiny baby and constantly having to wash my hands. At this point I decided to change my regular hand soap into a more natural product. I ended up buying Urtekram Brown Sugar and Nordic Birch organic hand soaps and I’ve never looked back.
After starting to use those hand soaps my skin quickly started to get better and the fingertips and cuticles haven’t cracked since. There are a lot of natural cosmetics and organic products out there to choose from. I just like these two so much I haven’t felt a need to look for options right now. The scent is mild and they are sold in a store near where I live so I don’t even have to wait for an online order to come in.
Have you tried any organic or natural ingredients hand soaps?
