ABC Challenge – Q is for quilted manicure

28

Hello and happy Wednesday everyone :) Today it’s time for the letter Q on our weekly ABC challenge and this was a tough one. I had hard time finding a polish that starts with a Q. Those that I found, I didn’t care for too much and I didn’t want to waste money on a bottle of polish that I don’t really want just because the name starts with a right letter ;) So I decided to do a quilted manicure. I’m not sure if this really counts as quilted mani but that’s what I’m calling it to get this darn letter over and done with.

As a base I used a coat of Color Club’s Where’s The Soiree? black creme and HK Girl fast drying top coat. Then I taped the pattern and applied two coats of OPI Bond Girls Liquid Sand shade Jinx. Removed the tapes right after and let the mani dry. Could’ve done a better job with this one but I was in a hurry and just needed to get something done. Either way, I liked how this looked IRL and I LOVE Jinx! It is stunning!

Please go visit all the other lovely ladies on this challenge and see what they are up to this week :)

Jindie Nails Be Someone Cute revisited

4

I have already photographed Jindie Nails Be Someone Cute a while ago. On those previous photos I layered it on a base color. This time I decided to wear it on it’s own, no undies. I have to say I like this even more just on it’s own. This is two coats and HK Girl top coat. This is very pretty and being all small glitter it’s different from anything else I have.

ABC Challenge – P is for Port-folio

16

Today’s been another super busy day for me so this late post is also gonna be pretty short ;) For the letter P I chose Color Club’s beautiful Port-folio. I got this a while ago and it was still in my untrieds pile so I saw this as a perfect opportunity to finally wear this one. Port-folio was released in the Fall 2012 In The True Fashion collection.

This is a purple and green duochrome. The duochrome effect is pretty strong. This applies well and dries fast. On the photos I have three coats of Port-folio and HK Girl top coat. Two coats will easily be enough for shorter nails.

Born Pretty Store review – Metal Style 3D Nail Art Sticker Silver

2

I got some more nail art supplies from Born Pretty Store to review and here’s the first one, metallic looking 3D nail art stickers. Mine are pattern #1, altogether there is seven different patterns to choose from. I’m not a huge fan of stickers but these I actually like. The subtle 3D effect and metallic look take them apart from many other more plastic looking stickers.

There are two different shapes on this sticker sheet. One that comes out in single piece and the other one can be used for french tips. French tip one comes off in two different pieces. Top part is lace like pattern and bottom part is just a solid curved piece. Those can be used together or on their own. The french tip on is all in one big ribbon so you need to have scissors handy to cut them to the size you need. The glue on these is not super sticky so you definitely need to use a top coat to seal the sticker in. Just like many other stickers, remember not to use your fast drying top coat.

On these nails I used Orly Lemonade as a base color and Inm Northern Lights Holographic Top Coat Gold.

You can buy these from Born Pretty Store and they also have a wide range of other nail art supplies. Born Pretty Store offers free worldwide shipping. Please use the code “NZL91” when you order and get extra -10% discount.

Orly – Lemonade

4

I bought a mini bottle of Orly Lemonade to for nail art stuff like dotting tool dots. I have read about the bad application so of course I had to try it myself too and boy, oh boy, it was pretty bad. It’s thick and streaky. Even with three carefully applied coats it was nowhere near perfect or even good. My HK Girl top coat totally saved the manicure and smooth it out enough to at least take a swatch photo. Such a shame cos I absolutely adore this pale yellow shade. I will keep this bottle though and use it only for the purpose I got it for in the first place. It’ll still be perfect for some dotting tool flowers etc.

Enchanted Polish – Flamingo Freckles (Mei Mei’s Signatures exclusive)

6

Today I have another Mei Mei’s Signatures exclusive polish for you, Enchanted Polish Flamingo Freckles. This one is so pretty, feminine and unique! I love it! On Mei Mei’s this is described as “A gorgeous hot pink jelly with scattered holo, iridescent flakes and glitters in hot orange, bubblegum pink, and tiny white color”. It just screams summer to me. Perfection in a bottle!

Flamingo Freckles applies nice and smooth. This is quite sheer so if you want 100% opaque result I suggest layering this on an opaque base color. I myself love squishy jellies so for me this is perfect on it’s own. On the photos I have two coats of Flamingo Freckles and a coat of HK Girl fast drying top coat.

This can be bought only from Mei Mei’s Signatures. Her store will be closed from 25th of April to 7th of May due to moving house and inventory check. For more information you should follow her FB page.

Coco Allure – Cleopinktra

8

Happy Saturday everyone :) Been a busy day hence the late post, but better late than never. Today I have another new to me indie brand Coco Allure and their Cleopinktra glitter polish for you. This has gold, pink and fuchsia glitter in different shapes and sizes on a clear base. This must be a new formula cos it is somewhat different than the swatch photo on their store shows. The swatch photo has more square glitter and none round ones and the polish I got has a lot of circular glitter. So this is not quite what I expected but I still like it very much.

Cleopinktra applies well and is really packed with glitter. Just one coat was enough layered on a black base (Essie Licorice). No need to turn the bottle upside down, a lot of glitter comes out without any tricks. This is quite blingtastic polish and I love the colors. This will work on many different base colors. Awesome Gini from Sassy Paints suggested layering this over a subtle yellow and I think that is exactly what I will do next time.

Coco Allure polishes can be bought from their Etsy store.

Essie – Licorice

2

I’ve been wanting to try another black creme polish besides my trusty Color Club Where’s The Soiree? I’ve heard good things about Essie Licorice, so when I was able to find it on a good sale from a local store I decided to give it a try. I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. Two coats was enough for my nails and shorter nails might even get away with just one coat. Application was nice and smooth too. This is definitely a keeper :)

Crazy Polish Lady – No Leaf Clover

2

Last Saturday I showed you my first polish Blood On The Dancefloor from new indie brand Crazy Polish Lady. Today I have the other polish I got in the same order, No Leaf Clover. This is an awesome lime green crelly with holographic micro-glitter. I absolutely love both of these polishes I got. No Leaf Clover is such fun, delicious and bright color! Reminds me of Granny Smith apples :D

No Leaf Clover applies perfectly. Two coats is enough for opaque result and dry time is short. Again I didn’t have any sunlight to photograph this with so photos are taken with daylight bulbs. On the photos I have two coats of No Leaf Clover and a coat of HK Girl top coat.

Crazy Polish Lady doesn’t have a webstore yet but she has a blog and FB-page. To order you can contact her in FB and prices with photos are available also on her blog. She ships internationally and my package was shipped right away. She has released two gorgeous collections. They are worth checking out, I promise you that much ;)

ABC Challenge – O is for Ole Caliente

36

Happy hump day! Today it’s time for the letter O and my pick for that is Essie Ole Caliente from their Spring 2012 collection. Ole Caliente is a bright coral-y red creme. Such and awesome summer color. The formula on this is great. It applies smooth as butter! I used two coats for this mani but for shorter nails this is a one coater. I love these bright reds!

I have a ton of nail stickers and water decals that I never use so I decided to give them a try. I chose white Artclub stickers to decorate this manicure a little. I’m not sure how I feel about the outcome though. I think the reason I don’t use stickers much is because they, ehh, well they look like stickers LOL Not that there is anything wrong with using stickers, I think I just prefer acrylic paints or nail polishes for nail art like this. The stickers look very pretty and feminine but I think they also lack personality :P

For this mani I used two coats of Essie Ole Caliente and HK Girl top coat.

Tänään on vuorossa viikottaisen ABC haasteen O kirjain.
