First try at hand painting using acrylic paint

5

Lately I’ve been watching tutorials online on how to use acrylic paints for nail art. On paper I’ve also tried to paint something that remotely resembles flowers. Painting straight on my nails for the first time I wanted to try something quick and easy.

I decided to try leopard print nails. Not really my style but I need to start somewhere and practise ;) Not necessarily the best possible result but I’ll show you the pics anyways. I’m hoping to get better at this and later on it’s gonna be cool to compare these first tries with newer ones and see the possible progress. While painting these I noticed I really need a thinner, good quality brush so I can work more detailed.

For these nails I first applied a base coat, two coats of Color Club Wild and Willing polish and dried everything up using Seche Vite. Then I mixed the fuchsia and white paint shown on the photo to get light pink which I used to paint the spots on my nails. After those have dried I used the black paint to do the outlines. Last I applied a little bit of Sally Hansen’s Strobe Light glitter polish on top of the leopard print and finished everything up with another coat of Seche Vite.

My nails are still uneven length, even more now than before. Yesterday I filed the longer ring finger nail to be the same length with the others and two hours later I lost a battle against our car’s trunk and broke the index and middle finger nails from my left hand :/

I’m still here… :)

I’m still alive and kicking even though you haven’t heard a word from me since this spring. Now I’m gonna try and be a good girl and write a few blog posts too. Free time is an issue even if I’m at home all the time. Baby girl is a bit on the wild side and takes up a lot of my time and attention and I’m also pregnant with my second child which takes it’s toll by making me be very tired all the time.
My nails have grown back to being healthy and normal since I grew out the gel nails. Length is still short but the growing project continues. I should have a few pics stashed somewhere along the way. I just gotta find them at some point. I should also have some photos of cosmetics, skin care products and nail stuff I want to show you. So I have plenty to write about. Now I just need to get the inspiration while I have some free time to write :)

Gel nails almost 5 weeks later

9

Time has gone crazy fast and I’ve been really busy. We have moved into a new place and I love it! I haven’t had any time to think about my nails or do anything to them. Haven’t exactly shown them any mercy either and opposite of what I always tell people to do I have been cleaning and stuff without gloves on.

I have to say that Cesars Secrets gel products are amazing to last through all of this and after 5 weeks my nails are still on with very little lifting. I broke up one nail couple of weeks ago but nothing would’ve survived that hit. Other than growing lenght and the visible line between my own nails and the gel these are looking very good.

Anyways, I’m tired of gel nails now and want my own natural nails back so here begins the nail growing project once again. This time I’ll leave these nails on till they fall off. By far I have saved myself 5 weeks of suffering with short and paper thin nails. I’m hoping these will stay on for another week or two.

Here’s a photo of how they look now and like last time I’ll take pics regularly to show you guys how things are going. I have to say that my nails are growing really slow now since that is all they’ve grown during past five weeks :/

Short gel nails for a change

7

I had to shorten my nails a lot so that I won’t break all of them off during the move. Packing moving boxes and moving heavy furniture isn’t really what my long nails were meant for ;D I’ll try and live with these till next month and then see what I can come up with next. Gel products are from Cesars Secrets and light pink glitter is from eBay.

New home for my cosmetics

10

I finally got myself a little makeup corner that I’ve been dreaming of for so long. Furniture except for the black leather chair are from IKEA.

I had a very limited space to build my little corner so those were really the only things to fit there right now that also pleased my eye. I managed to get all my cosmetics fit in to those drawers for now. There’s not much extra space left for new stuff though. Luckily this Malm furniture series has a lot of different kinds of drawers so I can easily get more space as soon as I can get a bigger room/area for my corner.

Here’s the whole corner. I’m keeping the brushes and often used makeup pens on the table with a couple of my favorite perfumes and my face cream. The black and white jar works as a little trash can for things like used cotton swaps, etc.

In the table drawer I put the cosmetics that I use most often. My Dior 5 Couleurs eyeshadow palettes, Lily Lolo mineral foundations and so on. The drawer is not all the way open and in the back there’s more Dior and my Urban Decay palettes. I wanted to organize everything in a way that I can easily find and get what I’m looking for. I didn’t want to shove it too full of stuff and then have to dig up for everything I needed and making the drawer messy in the process.

In the drawer next to the table I keep more makeup, perfumes, fake lashes and a lot of other stuff. I only took photos of two drawers but you get the idea ;)

All my nail polish is stashed away in this drawer. This one is almost full and I can’t get another one like this anymore. So instead of trying to look for one like this I think I’ll get two white Helmers from IKEA and put them on each side of this to make them look like they belong together ;)

I fixed my nails even if I said I wouldn’t ;D

I didn’t have the patience to wait for my nails to grow after all and I fixed them already. I filed the old ones off and put on new clear tips. For nail art I used the stuff I just got from eBay.

eBay shopping – Nail art supplies

2

Here’s the pics of my nail art supplies shopping from eBay … finally! I ordered bunch of stuff for gel nails and I think what I got is pretty cool. Few orders are still to come in but this is the most of them anyways.

Now I’m having a really hard time trying to decide which ones to use on my next nail fix. I’ve been waiting a little longer to fix my nails this time cos I’m waiting for them to grow a little more length. I don’t feel like going through the trouble of filing these off and replacing the tips with new ones just to get a millimeter or two of more length. I fixed the broken index finger nail and others still look good too so I can just wait a little longer :)

Glass (plastic) beads

Crushed shell

Glitter with multi-colored spangles

4 sizes of pearls

Star shaped rhinestones

Spangles, but these I’m not so happy with. I was expecting more stars to be on this wheel.

Dried flowers. I really like these ones

Fruit fimos. These were sliced really nice and thin. I’m glad about that cos I was afraid that I’d get thick ones that would be useless for me.

Cleaning NARS cases

0

I had no time to write the post about nail art supplies that I promised you for yesterday. I’ll try and get that done for tomorrow.

I spent yesterday getting my friend ready for her 30th birthday party and had to get myself ready to go too ;)

Today I have managed to waste all my time organizing my new makeup corner. I have it almost done and ready to go so I can take pics of it for you guys.

While I was moving all my makeup to their new home I once again realized how darn dirty my NARS blush cases were. I wanted to figure out a way to get them cleaned and then I though of this Cleanser fluid (mainly alcohol) I used for wiping sticky stuff off gel nails and I decided to give it a try. Cleanser did the trick and my blush cases now look almost as if they were brand new :D

I’m so happy I found something to get those cases clean with. They feel so nice and smooth to hold but they also get dirty and nasty looking way too easy.
