Mish Mash Challenge – Week 6: Hot

7

Wow! Is anyone surprised cos I’m so late with this, again *sigh*

I’m just gonna do this one nice and quick. This is one coat of Essie Licorice, one coat of OPI Baby It’s “Coal” Outside and the flames are done with OPI Liquid Sand Jinx. This manicure looked a lot better in my head than it actually did when it was ready LOL But since I already messed up my music theme mani and decided to skip the whole week I’ll just go ahead and show you this one.

Crappy photo of a crappy manicure, sowwy :P

That’s all for this one and maybe this week I can actually get my post up on time since I have already taken photos of the mani. Check back on Wed to see if a miracle happens ;D

Lynnderella – Tidy Whities

0

Today I have a polish from the new Lynnderella “Once Upon a Prince and More Man Candy” collection.

This is Tidy Whities and here’s Lynnderella’s description this polish “a mixture of opaque and translucent whites with assorted tiny pastel and iridescent glitters. Multishimmer in a clear base”.

This is two coats of IsaDora Purple Reign, two coats of  Tidy Whities and G & G HK Girl top coat.

The application was easy and smooth, no need for Glitter Food. This is one of those glitter toppers that can be layered over any color. White base looks icy and dark base brings out all the beauty in this polish.

Lynnderella polishes are available to European customers at Norway Nails. You can use the code “POLISHAHOLIC” to get -10% off of any purchase. Norway Nails offers a wide range of gorgeous indies and other polish brands. You can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

IsaDora Wonder Nail – Purple Reign

2

Today I have a gorgeous shade from the new IsaDora Color Chock Fall 2013 collection. This is 772 Purple Reign. It’s your basic plum-ish purple creme that goes great for the fall months. I think everyone should have a shade like this on their stash. I have more than one myself ;) This is a dark, vampy shade but still clearly purple, not black.

Formula was excellent and the application was very smooth. The Wide Brush this polish has made the application very easy. This might even be a one coater for shorter nails. I don’t have much experience with IsaDora polishes but the quality of this polish impressed me a lot so I think you’ll be seeing more from IsaDora on this blog in the future.

For this mani I used two coats of Purple Reign with G & G HK Girl top coat.

Try It On Tuesday: Wet n Wild Megalast – Sugar Coat

1

For this TIOT I have chosen yet another Wet n Wild polish. I seem to have a bad habit of buying cheap nail polish and just putting it in to the drawers without trying it out.

This is four coats of Sugar Coat with G & G HK Girl top coat.

Formula was thin and sheer and the application was quite streaky. I actually managed to get it to look good on three coats but then I went to the stables and messed up the mani a bit. I added a fourth coat and another coat of HK Girl before I took the photo. I love this subtle very pale pink color. Looked great with my new nails! I don’t know if it’s even possible to find a color like this that’s not streaky and is perfect on two coats so I didn’t let the application bother me too much.

My new nails

9

I meant to file my nails shorter and into almond shape. Then this happened…

For this manicure I used two coats of OPI A Roll In The Hague, OPI Rainbow Connection dabbed on the  the orange base and G & G HK Girl top coat.

I’ve had my nails looking like this before and I love the shape. I used to have them a lot longer too. Soon I’ll probably go for the smoother almond shape and then back to square-ish and long. I really like having my nails long, I just got tired of them looking the same way for so long. I needed a change :) I just don’t know what to call this shape LOL I know most people call these stilettos but in my opinion stilettos are longer and a bit different shape. I guess these are something between gothic almond and stilettos :P

In case there are new readers wondering about my nails, I use Cesars Secrets Builder Gel on my nails to make them stronger. I have a thin uv-gel layover on my own nails and I fix them about every two weeks to prevent having a too visible growth line. If/when I break a nail I usually use a plastic tip to maintain the length while my own nail grows back.

What do you think? Hell yes or a big NO NO? :D

Born Pretty Store review – Feather Effect nail polish

1

Today I have a Born Pretty Store review for you and this time it’s Feather Effect nail polish. I have not been too interested in these feather effect polishes before and this is the first one I got. This has a lot of silver and white bar glitter on a sheer base. The silver glitter is holographic and it gives this polish a lovely glow and sparkle. Shade/color number for this is #2 in the web store.

For this manicure I used a coat of Wet n Wild Megalast Break The Ice, two coats of Feather Effect #2 and Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat.

The formula on this is quite thick. You need to let the first coat dry pretty well before applying the second one or the first coat will start dragging. Applying this with a very light hand helps too. Also this smells pretty weird/bad. That being said, I still totally love how this looks. It looks like angel wings :D So pretty and sparkly! I layered this over a sheer white base but you can layer this over any base color you want to. This would look amazing built up to be opaque on it’s own but it will need to have a date with a thinner bottle first.

You can buy the Feather Effect nail polish from Born Pretty Store and they also have a wide range of other nail art supplies. Born Pretty Store offers free worldwide shipping. Please use the code “NZL91” when you order and get extra -10% discount.

Lynnderella – It’s Raining Shaman

2

Today I have yet another polish from the new “Once Upon a Prince and More Man Candy” collection by Lynnderella. I recently received the whole collection and I’m showing you these pretties one by one.

So now it’s time for It’s Raining Shaman. Here’s how Lynnderella describes this polish “It’s Raining Shaman contains neon, opaque and satin yellows and oranges with black, grey, pink, red and multiglitter. Holographic gold microglitter and multishimmer overlay in a clear base. Dragon’s Blood not included”.

When I looked at the bottle I wasn’t too excited about the color combination and was even a little lost on what to layer it with. Then I put on Wet n Wild Everybody Loves Redmond and I realized that would be a perfect base for this glitter polish. Once I applied the first coat of polish I was going “Ooh, aah!”. This is so pretty. Color combination is actually pretty awesome and I love the shimmer!

This is two coats of Wet n Wild Everybody Loves Redmond, two coats of It’s Raining Shaman and G & G HK Girl top coat.

The application was perfect once again. All the glitter came out of the bottle without any fishing. This applied so evenly that there was no need for dabbing or placing the glitters.
It always makes me so happy when a polish surprises me positively. I didn’t expect to be crazy about this but once I tried it, I love it!

Try It On Tuesday: Wet n Wild Fastdry – Everybody Loves Redmond

2

Try It On Tuesday is here again and this time I dug out an awesome orange-y, tomato red polish. This is Wet n Wild Fastdry shade Everybody Loves Redmond. I love the sexy, bold, bright red color. The finish is crelly if you ask me. This is too squishy and juicy to be a creme and not quite squishy enough for jelly.

This is two coats with G & G HK Girl top coat.

The formula is a bit on a thin side and this runs on your cuticles easily if you take too much polish on your brush. Application was smooth and even, no balding. Two coats was enough for an opaque result and dry time was short. Color is just awesome and quality is great for the price. Be sure to grab this one if you love sexy red polishes :)

Polish Addict Nail Color – Oceanside

2

Hello again! Since I’ve fallen a bit behind on my reviews I’m trying to catch up by doing some crazy swatching and two post days ;)

Here’s another Polish Addict Nail Color shade. This is Oceanside, a beautiful nude crelly with neon green and blue glitter. This polish is a perfect example of how simple can still be very beautiful. Love this!

This is three thin coats of Oceanside with G & G HK Girl top coat.

Formula and application on this were perfection. No dragging or balding like you could expect with a base color like this. Oceanside was smooth and even starting from the first coat. I adore the nude base color! Reminds me a bit of Illamasqua Load. This is another one of those shades that is perfect for winter too. (What is it with me and winter lately? Summer isn’t even over yet! LOL).

Polish Addict Nail Color is available at their own webstore and us international ladies can do our shopping at Mei Mei’s Signatures. You can also follow them at FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

Rain City Lacquer – Pink Rain

0

Hello fellow lacquerheads and happy Monday (if there is such a thing ;) ). Today I have another shade from a brand new indie maker Rain City Lacquer. These polishes are currently only available to US customers.

This is Pink Rain and here’s how it’s described on the Rain City Lacquer website “Pink Rain is a neon pink glitter topper. A mixture of iridescent peach, matte pink, and neon pink glitter in a tinted pink base. Looks lovely over your favorite polish, or on its own!”

Here I have two coats of Essie Ole Caliente (coral red creme), a coat of Pink Rain and two coats of G & G HK Girl top coat.

Formula is a bit on the thick side and in my opinion this is easiest to apply if you dab it on. I tried the normal way of brushing this on my nail and all the glitter got stucked together and piled up. Dabbing worked like a charm though and I was able to apply the glitter pretty evenly. The bigger pink pieces may require placing.

All in all I love how this looks over the bright coral red base. Very fresh and cute looking :) I think this might look really cool on it’s own too if I had the patience to slowly dab it on until I had full coverage. Gotta try that sometime!

Rain City Lacquer can be bought from their webstore (US customers only). You can also follow them on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.
