Mish Mash Challenge: Week 4 – Nail art technique I have never tried before

21

Look at me almost getting a post up in time ;D For this week I had a lot to choose from and I ended up doing drag marbling. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now, this and water marbling but I’m still not brave enough to try that LOL

For this manicure I used OPI Thanks a Windmillion, Sephora by OPI Leaf Him At The Altar and China Glaze Gussied Up Green. I finished the manicure with G & G HK Girl top coat.

I’m not totally happy with the result. It looks kinda cool but I think it could look a lot cooler. I think I have to give this one another try later on. But there’s no winners or losers on our challenge and that makes it so much fun :) Good or bad, I challenged myself to try something new :)

Thank you for reading and please pay a visit to the other lovely ladies too :)

Mish Mash Challenge – Metallic

20

Ahhhh! I’m so late with this post but once again, better late than never :P So last week’s theme was metallic. Since I strongly dislike metallic finish nail polish I decided to do something that doesn’t make me want to start a huge fire and throw every metallic polish bottle in to it. I think studs and chains count as metallic, right? At least on this mani they do :P

Here’s what I did.

For this I used OPI Baby It’s “Coal” Outside with G & G HK Girl top coat. Studs and chain are from Born Pretty Store.

This is a quick and easy mani. Just do your base color and let dry. Then use glue or top coat to attach the studs on the nails and seal then in with a top coat if you want to. Little tools like dotting tool, cutters to cut the chain, small pliers etc. will be helpful.
If you have a moment go check out what all the other awesome ladies came up with!

Guest post for KellieGonzo and Mish Mash Challenge: Taping

22

Hi and happy hump day lovelies! I’ve been tearing up my nails and cutting my fingers left and right so I missed my Try It On Tuesday post yesterday. I totally had a manicure in mind for today’s Mish Mash Challenge too but instead of actually doing it last night I spent the time fixing a bad tear on my middle finger nail. Darn fridge doors can be deadly for long nails :( Soooo, I don’t have a tape manicure done for you today…

…BUT…

I recently did a tape manicure for KellieGonzo as a guest post (I’m so honored and excited about this!!) and lucky coincidence, it was posted today so I’m gonna take the easy way out and have you go check that one out LOL

Born Pretty Store review – Oval Gemstone wheel

6

I got this gemstone wheel from Born Pretty Store a while ago for review. This wheel has 12 different color and size oval or raindrop shaped artificial stones. These lay very flat and might be challenging to place on curvier nails. It helps to add rhinestones, micropearls etc. around the gemstone to hide the possible gap between the nail and the sides of the gemstone.

I decided to do a jewelry type design using pearly white oval gemstone from the wheel I got. I added rhinestones from my own previously bought kit and some chain that I have purchased from Born Pretty Store. The base color is Wet n Wild I need a Refresh-Mint.

There’s a lot of options on what kind of designs you can use these stones for. They allow you to do lovely 3D designs on your nails and why not even use them as a special effect on your make up look.

You can buy the gemstone wheel from Born Pretty Store and they also have a wide range of other nail art supplies. Born Pretty Store offers free worldwide shipping. Please use the code “NZL91” when you order and get extra -10% discount.

ABC Challenge – V is for Vintage Minnie

8

Today I have a very late ABC Challenge post for you, this was supposed to be up last Wednesday. I just haven’t had time to do my nails at all :/ I did this manicure last night and it’s a quick one. I just didn’t want to miss a letter since I haven’t done so by far and I had to come up with something LOL I didn’t really have any cool V polishes except one from Crazy Polish Lady but I just used her polishes for letter U so I didn’t want to go there again. Then I remembered my OPI Vintage Minnie minis collection I got a while back but never really used and decided to do something with that.

So here’s my quick Vintage Minnie manicure for letter V. I used the three polishes in the collection and also used OPI Alpine Snow, The “IT” Color and Baby It’s “Coal” Outside. I finished the manicure using G & G HK Girl top coat. The bow is from Born Pretty Store.

So this was my late post for V week and I’ll try and have my W post up in time tomorrow :)

***3D bow decoration was sent for review. Everything else used in this manicure was purchased by me.

Born Pretty Store review – Stamping plate

2
I got this stamping plate to try out from Born Pretty Store. They have a wide selection of stamping plates to choose from. I’ve been wanting a plate with rose images so that is what I chose to try out. I’m very happy with the quality of the plate. Images are easy to pick up with both my XL Stamper and Konad Stamper. The rose patterns are quite pretty and there is different styles to choose from. The plate has 15 images altogether.
For this look I used my yesterday’s Delush Polish Opalesque as a base color. I used black Konad special polish for the stamping and Color Club Where’s The Soiree? for the dotting tool dots. Images were a lot clearer before the top coat, Inm Out The Door Northern Lights Holographic top coat. Black Konad polish smudges so easy and this is what happened here too :/ From now on I’ll use some other black polish for stamping.
I really like the long rose pattern on my ring finger. I love it that on a small plate like this there’s a pattern big enough to cover my whole long nail. All of the images on this plate are very pretty and usable. I think I’ll be using this quite a lot on some summer-y nail art designs :)
You can buy this plate from Born Pretty Store and they also have a wide range of other nail art supplies. Born Pretty Store offers free worldwide shipping. Please use the code “NZL91” when you order and get extra -10% discount.

KKCenterHk review – Purple marquise nail art studs

8

I got purple marquise nail art studs to try out from KKCenterHk and here’s my review of them. These studs are rather large 6 mm x 3 mm but they are made of metal so you can bend them to match the shape of your nail. I usually use a dotting tool handle to bend bigger studs like these to curve slightly so they are easier to place on the nails.

This time I decided to go for a floral design with these studs and I also used round silver studs that I have previously received from KKCenterHk. I quite like how this turned out. The studs were easy to use, bend and place on the nails. To attach the studs I used a drop of top coat (not fast drying) and I also sealed the design in with a layer of top coat. The base color here is Essie Lilacism.

You can find these nail art studs from KKCenterHk and if you use the code “polishaholic” you’ll get -10% off.

ABC Challenge – R is for rainbow gone wrong

28

Wednesday once again :O Time really flies nowadays! Anyways, here’s my nails for letter R. I wanted to try and do rainbow gradient nails. These didn’t turn out as I imagined so I’m calling them “Rainbow gone wrong” nails LOL. Though I actually really like how these turned out even if the outcome wasn’t what I was going for.

I used Different Dimension 80’s baby collection of six polishes to do these nails. I painted each nail with different polish for a base color. Then I took six little sponges and just randomly layered the colors over each other multiple times. As a final touch I added HK Girl top coat.
All the polishes in this collection have a great formula and I just love the bright colors :) I’ll be swatching each polish on this collection individually in the future.
