Color Club – East Austin

8

This delicious, almost neon, peachy bomb of a creme is Color Club East Austin from their Fall 2013 Girl About Town collection. This color is absolutely gorgeous! On the photo it looks like it gave me lobster hands but that is just the camera freaking out with the brightness of this shade. In real life it actually made my winter pale hands look almost tanned. This is a perfect shade for a snowy and sunny winter day too!

Like the other two cremes from the same collection this has good formula and application. A little streaky on the first coat and evened out perfectly with the second. This was a tiny bit thinner than the other two cremes and since my nails are so long I added a third coat. Top coat is of course HK Girl.

Glitter Gal Australia – Tart Yourself Up and Big Smoke

0

Today I have two new Glitter Gal Australia polishes for you. They are Tart Yourself Up from the Celebrate Sydney Style collection and Big Smoke from the Holiday in OZ collection. These two are not your typical holiday colors here up north but never the less they are gorgeous.

Both of these are creme polishes. Formula is excellent and application is absolutely perfect. Both took two coats for an opaque result and dried very quickly and shiny. Top coat used on these manicures is Glitter Gal’s own Gloss Boss.

Tart Yourself Up which apparently in OZ means “Get dressed, were going out for dinner”! (I just love this name :D ).

Big Smoke
The application and dry time on this are really right next to all the best cremes out there. Just flawless!
And then to the top coat, Gloss Boss. I will review this properly on its own later on. But here’s my first impression of it.

Thick-ish formula but still good application. Evens itself out perfectly leaving insanely shiny gel like finish. This is not mentioned to be a fast drying top coat but still dried very very quickly when I used it on both of these manicures. So I had quite a positive first experience with this top coat. Next I’ll try it with a holo polish since it is supposed to enhance the holo effect. I’ll also try this with some chunky glitter since it is quite thick and might even out some of the glitter polishes nicely too.

You should also know that “All Glitter Gal Australia’s polishes are 5 free and do not contain Formaldehyde, DPB, Toluene, Formaldehyde Resin or Camphor”

Glitter Gal polishes and more info is available at their website. You can also find Glitter Gal from FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

Color Club – Poetic Hues

0

Today’s review is Poetic Hues from the Color Club Harlem Lights collection for Winter 2013. This is a cream colored good quality creme. Again great looking alone and a good base for nail art or glitters. I don’t have anything like this in my stash so this was a welcome addition.

On this mani I used two coats of Poetic Hues with G & G HK Girl top coat.

Color Club seems to have found a good formula for these new cremes cos the application on this was also excellent. You would think this was a nightmare to apply looking at the color but it really was anything but. A little bit streaky on the first coat and evened out perfectly on the second coat.

Color Club – Wicker Park

1

Today I have another new Color Club shade for you from the Girl About Town Fall 2013 collection. This is Wicker Park, a beautiful lavender creme.

For this mani I used two coats of Wicker Park with G & G HK Girl top coat.

Wicker Park has an excellent formula and the application was a breeze. Just a tiny bit streaky on the first coat but evens out perfectly on the second one. Two coats is also enough for an opaque result. Very beautiful shade and a great quality! Looks like your average lavender/lilac creme but at least I don’t have dupes for this in my stash.

IsaDora Wonder Nail – Purple Reign

2

Today I have a gorgeous shade from the new IsaDora Color Chock Fall 2013 collection. This is 772 Purple Reign. It’s your basic plum-ish purple creme that goes great for the fall months. I think everyone should have a shade like this on their stash. I have more than one myself ;) This is a dark, vampy shade but still clearly purple, not black.

Formula was excellent and the application was very smooth. The Wide Brush this polish has made the application very easy. This might even be a one coater for shorter nails. I don’t have much experience with IsaDora polishes but the quality of this polish impressed me a lot so I think you’ll be seeing more from IsaDora on this blog in the future.

For this mani I used two coats of Purple Reign with G & G HK Girl top coat.

Try It On Tuesday: Wet n Wild Megalast – Sugar Coat

1

For this TIOT I have chosen yet another Wet n Wild polish. I seem to have a bad habit of buying cheap nail polish and just putting it in to the drawers without trying it out.

This is four coats of Sugar Coat with G & G HK Girl top coat.

Formula was thin and sheer and the application was quite streaky. I actually managed to get it to look good on three coats but then I went to the stables and messed up the mani a bit. I added a fourth coat and another coat of HK Girl before I took the photo. I love this subtle very pale pink color. Looked great with my new nails! I don’t know if it’s even possible to find a color like this that’s not streaky and is perfect on two coats so I didn’t let the application bother me too much.

Try It On Tuesday: Wet n Wild Fastdry – Everybody Loves Redmond

2

Try It On Tuesday is here again and this time I dug out an awesome orange-y, tomato red polish. This is Wet n Wild Fastdry shade Everybody Loves Redmond. I love the sexy, bold, bright red color. The finish is crelly if you ask me. This is too squishy and juicy to be a creme and not quite squishy enough for jelly.

This is two coats with G & G HK Girl top coat.

The formula is a bit on a thin side and this runs on your cuticles easily if you take too much polish on your brush. Application was smooth and even, no balding. Two coats was enough for an opaque result and dry time was short. Color is just awesome and quality is great for the price. Be sure to grab this one if you love sexy red polishes :)

Try It On Tuesday: Essie – In The Cab-Ana

6

Here’s my TIOT mani for this week. This is two coats of Essie In The Cab-Ana with G & G HK Girl top coat.

This applies nice and smooth and two coats is enough for opaque result. I really like this color and it’s such a shame I let it sit there unused for almost the whole summer.

Color Club – Uptown Girl

0

Here’s a quick swatch of Color Club Uptown Girl from the Spring 2010 Rebel Debutante collection.

This is three coats of Uptown Girl with G & G HK Girl top coat.

The formula was a little watery and it took three coats to be opaque. I can’t remember if this was originally this watery or is it just the fact that years haven’t been kind to this bottle of polish. Either way it’s still very much usable and I love this shade. Perfect for fall or layering glitters :)

Try It On Tuesday – China Glaze Fancy Pants

4

Tuesday’s here again and it’s time to show you what I dug out of my untrieds pile this week. If you’d like to join this very relaxed weekly challenge just contact Sassy Paints :)

This is two coats of China Glaze Fancy Pants with G & G HK Girl top coat.

Application was ok, a little streaky on the first coat. Evened out nicely with the second coat though and that was actually enough. I was a little surprised cos I was under an impression that this is a little on the sheer side. I have no complaints really. Not a very unique shade but really pretty and I love the subtle pink shimmer that isn’t really visible on the photo.
