Try It On Tuesday – Illamasqua Load

2

Here we go again with another untried. This time it’s Illamasqua Load. If you can get past the image the name and color can create ;) this one is actually quite lovely. Very unique color in my collection and makes a great base for layering glitter or nail art.

This is three coats with G & G HK Girl top coat.

Application is somewhat challenging but three thin, careful coats does the trick. Beautiful creme and the name cracks me up every time ;D

Oldie but Goodie – OPI Ate Berries in the Canaries

2

I’m starting a new theme post series on my blog. This might not be a weekly thing but every now and then these posts will pop up. For “Oldie but Goodie” posts I will go through my stash and pick a polish that isn’t untried but has been forgotten for quite a while and deserves to be used again. This way I’m trying to get a little more use out of my evergrowing stash and not just use polishes once and then forget about them.

For my first post I chose OPI Ate Berries in the Canaries from the Fall 2009 Spain collection. This is two coats with G & G HK Girl top coat.

Ate Berries in the Canaries is easy to apply and is opaque on two coats. This is pink-ish purple-ish berry-ish I dunno what color creme. Very pretty on it’s own and definitely deserved to get out of the Helmer again.

So this was my first  “Oldie but Goodie” post. Feel free to adopt this idea and use it too since I know there’s a lot of you ladies (and few gentlemen) out there who’s stash has a lot of forgotten beauties in it :)

Try It On Tuesday: Wet n Wild Megalast I Need a Refresh-Mint

6

Happy Tuesday lovelies! It’s time for another TIOT with Sassypaints. This time I have a pretty minty green shade for you from Wet n Wild. I bought this one a while back and naturally threw it in to the Helmer without trying it out. I have read this shade being very close to China Glaze For Audrey but i don’t own that one so I can’t compare it myself. Though Google is your friend and I bet you can find some comparisons if you want to check it out yourself.

This is two thin coats of I Need a Refresh-Mint with G & G HK Girl top coat.

This applies really well and smooth. The formula is a bit on the thick side and very pigmented so this could even be a one coater for shorter nails. Great quality for the price! This is a second Megalast shade I tried and I liked it as much as I liked the first one.

OPI – Chic From Ears To Tail

4

Another day, another blog post :D This is OPI Chic From Ears To Tail, a very pretty bubblegum pink with a subtle silver shimmer. It’s from OPI Couture De Minnie collection of five polishes. Not really all that unique but very pretty either way.

This is three thin coats of Chic From Ears To Tail with G & G HK Girl top coat.

Chic From Ears To Tail was a little streaky to apply on the first coat and it took three careful coats to be smooth and opaque. This is a very summer-y girly shade that is great to wear alone and it also makes a good base for nail art or layering glitters.

Later today I’ll show you another new Jindie Nails glitter topper layered over this pretty pink thing. So check back for that!

I bought this polish along with the whole collection from Glisten & Glow’s online store. If you haven’t tried their Stuck On Blu base coat or the amazing HK Girl top coat be sure to correct that mistake soon enough ;) I promise you won’t be disappointed!

ABC Challenge – X is for Xixabangma

4

My X post is late but better late than never :P The letter X seemed to be a problem for many. I already got one polish for this week quite a while ago and right after ordering that one I ran into this polish on Elevation Polish webstore. I mean it’s green, it has beautiful subtle shimmer and the name was really awesome so I just had to get it right away :D

This is two coats of Elevation Polish Xixabangma with G & G HK Girl top coat.

Xixabangma has a thick-ish formula that applies really well and is opaque in two coats. This might even be a one coater for shorter nails. Dry time was quick. I just love Elevation Polish. Gorgeous colors with really unique names. I need to get more of these in my life :)
Elevations Polish beauties can be bought from their webstore.

OPI -A Definite Moust-Have

4

Hello my lovelies, I’m back! We have moved and things are starting to calm down. Still plenty to do around here and this place is gonna keep us busy for a lot longer. I’m trying to get back to my almost daily post rhythm and it actually felt really good to start taking swatch photos again :) I broke a few nails during the moving process but I fixed them with plastic tips and UV-gel. Photos of those accidents and fixed nails can be found from my Instagram. I should also be all caught up with answering the comments and e-mails now :)

So on to today’s polish. This is OPI A Definite Moust-Have from the Couture de Minnie collection. I bought the whole collection from Glisten & Glow’s online store. I’m a sucker for red nails and if I could only choose one color to wear for the rest of my life it would most likely be red. It’s just always so classic and sexy.

This is two coats of A Definite Moust-Have and G & G HK Girl top coat.

A Definite Moust-Have applied like a dream and was opaque with two coats. Dry time was also short with a little help from HK Girl Fast Drying & Super Shiny top coat. This is such a perfect color for summer. I’m absolutely in love with this shade! There’s also a very subtle shimmer in this that is visible in sunlight.

Essie – First Timer

0

Hello my lovelies! I hope everyone is having a great weekend :) Today I have a very quick post for you. This is Essie First Timer from the Resort 2013 collection. First Timer is your basic good quality pale mint green creme polish. Formula is good and application is smooth, opaque in two coats and dries fast. This is a perfect shade for spring and summer and this also makes a great base for glitter (which I’ll show you on tomorrow’s post).

On this mani I used two coats of Essie First Timer and G & G HK Girl top coat.

Essie – Lilacism

1

Quick post of a good base polish for glitters and other decorations Essie Lilacism. This was a little streaky on the first coat but evened out quite nicely on the second coat. I really like this pale lilac creme shade :)

This was two coats of Lilacism and HK Girl top coat.

Orly – Lemonade

4

I bought a mini bottle of Orly Lemonade to for nail art stuff like dotting tool dots. I have read about the bad application so of course I had to try it myself too and boy, oh boy, it was pretty bad. It’s thick and streaky. Even with three carefully applied coats it was nowhere near perfect or even good. My HK Girl top coat totally saved the manicure and smooth it out enough to at least take a swatch photo. Such a shame cos I absolutely adore this pale yellow shade. I will keep this bottle though and use it only for the purpose I got it for in the first place. It’ll still be perfect for some dotting tool flowers etc.

Essie – Licorice

2

I’ve been wanting to try another black creme polish besides my trusty Color Club Where’s The Soiree? I’ve heard good things about Essie Licorice, so when I was able to find it on a good sale from a local store I decided to give it a try. I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. Two coats was enough for my nails and shorter nails might even get away with just one coat. Application was nice and smooth too. This is definitely a keeper :)
