Try It On Tuesday – Illamasqua Load

2

Here we go again with another untried. This time it’s Illamasqua Load. If you can get past the image the name and color can create ;) this one is actually quite lovely. Very unique color in my collection and makes a great base for layering glitter or nail art.

This is three coats with G & G HK Girl top coat.

Application is somewhat challenging but three thin, careful coats does the trick. Beautiful creme and the name cracks me up every time ;D

Oldie but Goodie – OPI Ate Berries in the Canaries

2

I’m starting a new theme post series on my blog. This might not be a weekly thing but every now and then these posts will pop up. For “Oldie but Goodie” posts I will go through my stash and pick a polish that isn’t untried but has been forgotten for quite a while and deserves to be used again. This way I’m trying to get a little more use out of my evergrowing stash and not just use polishes once and then forget about them.

For my first post I chose OPI Ate Berries in the Canaries from the Fall 2009 Spain collection. This is two coats with G & G HK Girl top coat.

Ate Berries in the Canaries is easy to apply and is opaque on two coats. This is pink-ish purple-ish berry-ish I dunno what color creme. Very pretty on it’s own and definitely deserved to get out of the Helmer again.

So this was my first  “Oldie but Goodie” post. Feel free to adopt this idea and use it too since I know there’s a lot of you ladies (and few gentlemen) out there who’s stash has a lot of forgotten beauties in it :)

Lynnderella – Amethyst Devotion

0

Late Sunday post for me, but I’m here now with an awesome glitter polish to show you. This is Lynnderella Amethyst Devotion from the Talismans and Birthstones collection. Amazing sheer base polish with a ton of purple glitter along with some red and pink. This can be layered over a lot of different base colors and this time I decided to use pink-ish purple creme. I also intend to do a gradient mani over a black base as soon as possible. This one is so sparkly and absolutely stunning IRL.

In this mani I used two coats of OPI Ate Berries in the Canaries, one coat of Amethyst Devotion (plus some dabbing here and there) with a generous coat of G & G HK Girl top coat.

Amethyst Devotion applies well and cos it’s so packed with glitter one coat is enough. Two coats would probably be almost opaque. This is the kind of polish that is very hard to capture accurately. It’s complex and there’s so much shiny glitter and sparkles. You really need to see this in real life to truly appreciate it.

Femme Fatale – Noble Garden

2

Hello lovelies! Today I have another Femme Fatale polish to show you. As many of you know I’m a sucker for green nail polish so this was a real treat for me. Noble Garden has a lot of sparkling green glitter in different shapes and sizes along with some little pops of color like pink and orange. Very beautiful combination of glitter.

I decided to layer this over a dark green jelly, NARS Zulu. This is two coats of Noble Garden over Zulu, a coat of Glitter Food and G & G HK Girl top coat.

Noble Garden applied very nicely and just one coat resulted in a good amount of glitter on my nails. But again I was greedy for bling and added another coat :P IMO there’s never enough green glitters and this one is a real gem :)

NARS – Zulu

2

Hello again! This is probably going to be the last two post day for now. We still have a lot to do around the house and I should have daily dates with a paintbrush. I’m also finally starting to work on my womancave so that is going to take some of my precious freetime also. I’m just so happy to finally have my own space and to move all the makeup and nail stuff out of our bedroom :)

And then to the polish. I have swatched this before but the photo isn’t very good. Since I wanted to use this as an undie to a gorgeous glitter I decided to photograph it alone first. This is the queen of green jellies, NARS Zulu. Very deep, dark green but still clearly green instead of looking black.

This is three coats of Zulu with G & G HK Girl top coat.

Zulu is a little tricky apply. There’s some balding and dragging going on. Being careful and patient with the application helps. Let each coat dry for a bit before applying the next one. I love green nail polish and I love this gorgeous jelly one too. It looks great alone and makes a nice squishy base for layering glitter.

OPI – Innie Minnie Mightie Bow

0

On my first post of the day I have yesterday’s Lynnderella manicure undies for you. This is Innie Minnie Mightie Bow from the Couture de Minnie collection. This is packed with gorgeous shimmer and all I can say is that OPI really does these classic reds better than anyone. Just perfection!

This is two coats of Innie Minnie Mighty Bow with  G & G HK Girl top coat.

Application was smooth and perfect. This was almost a one coater for my nails too. Innie Minnie Mighty Bow is a perfect shimmery red.

Lynnderella – S.W.A.K.

0

Here’s the second one of my new Lynnderella polishes. This is S.W.A.K. from the 2013 Groundhog Day collection. This beauty has a ton of different kinds of glitter on a sheer base, including hearts and stars. The sheer base is packed with pink/fuchsia shimmer and it just glows. This is a perfect Valentine’s Day or a romantic date polish.

This is two coats of OPI Innie Minnie Mightie Bow, two thin coats of S.W.A.K., a coat of Glitter Food and G & G HK Girl top coat.

S.W.A.K. applies well and one coat wouldn’t really even need Glitter Food to smooth it. But I’m a glitter addict so of course I had to add another coat and the result was a little chunky. This is a perfect blend of glitter and you can layer this over a lot of different base colors. I used a red shimmer base but also a bright red jelly would look absolutely gorgeous with this one.

Try It On Tuesday: Wet n Wild Megalast I Need a Refresh-Mint

6

Happy Tuesday lovelies! It’s time for another TIOT with Sassypaints. This time I have a pretty minty green shade for you from Wet n Wild. I bought this one a while back and naturally threw it in to the Helmer without trying it out. I have read this shade being very close to China Glaze For Audrey but i don’t own that one so I can’t compare it myself. Though Google is your friend and I bet you can find some comparisons if you want to check it out yourself.

This is two thin coats of I Need a Refresh-Mint with G & G HK Girl top coat.

This applies really well and smooth. The formula is a bit on the thick side and very pigmented so this could even be a one coater for shorter nails. Great quality for the price! This is a second Megalast shade I tried and I liked it as much as I liked the first one.

Jindie Nails – Strawberry Cupcake

4

Here’s an older Jindie Nails shade for a change. This is the lovely Strawberry Cupcake. It was released in 2012 Winter collection.

This is how it’s described on Jindie Nails website “It has a pastel pink crelly base with an assortment of shaped glitters like round, square and hex in teal, matte pastel lavender, metallic berry, matte grape, metallic turquoise, matte pastel aqua, matte white, metallic deep teal, metallic lavender and periwinkle.  It also has a gorgeous aqua/turquoise shimmer.  Opaque in 2-3 coats and meant to be worn on its own”.

Strawberry Cupcake is absolutely adorable and such a cute, girly shade. For some reason the shade seems to lean a bit to purple-ish against my skin tone.

This is three thin coats of Strawberry Cupcake, a coat of Glitter Food and G & G HK Girl top coat.

Strawberry Cupcake applies very smoothly and evenly. Glitter comes out of the bottle without any problems.  I just absolutely love the color combination on this!

Femme Fatale – Mana Ruby

2

Happy Sunday! Today I have another Femme Fatale polish to show you and this one is a real beauty. Mana Ruby is the squishiest, juiciest jelly I’ve ever tried. It is absolutely delicious! It has red hex glitter and iridescent blue glitter that gives this an amazing glow from within. I almost never layer jelly polishes over cremes cos I love to get the depth showing and you lose that effect if you layer it on a base color. That being said nothing stops you from layering this one on top of another polish and it’ll still be gorgeous.

This is three thin coats of Mana Ruby with G & G HK Girl top coat. The color is somewhat more vivid red in real life than I was able to capture on the photos.

Mana Ruby applies perfectly and applying three coats didn’t look too thick at all. Since this one has a true jelly formula it’s never really opaque but the visible nail line wasn’t really a problem either. I absolutely love jelly polishes and this one is instantly one of my favorites :)
