Girly pirate nails and Born Pretty Store skull review

13

Today I have some 3D stud nail art for you again with a Born Pretty Store review. Since I pretty much suck at freehand nail art and I don’t like decals or stickers much then this is pretty much the only thing I can do :D I got these metal skulls (#2) to try out and I had to think for a bit about what to do with them. The obvious thing was to put on black nail polish and stick a skull on one of the nails. I wanted to do something a little more girly though and came up with this design.

The base color is OPI Chic From Ears To Tail. After that was dry I used masking tape to get straight lines on the tips and applied OPI Liquid Sand Emotions. Then I used top coat to attach round studs and the chain on the ring finger. Both of these products can also be found from Born Pretty Store. At last I added the skull. I just used top coat so I could easily remove it and save for later use. If you really want to attach it so that it stays on too you need to use glue.

Skulls are flat and they stick out on the side of the nails. So I recommend these to be used mostly on one night party manicures. If possible you should also wait till the last minute to glue the skull on to your manicure. Otherwise it will be stuck in your hair or clothes while you’re getting ready.

I think this looks great with my nail shape and using pink too made the manicure look a little more feminine but still edgy and pirate-y ;)

You can buy these skulls from Born Pretty Store and they also have a wide range of other nail art supplies. Born Pretty Store offers free worldwide shipping. Please use the code “NZL91” when you order and get extra -10% discount.

Not your usual Holiday nails and Born Pretty Store pink bow review

8

Since I got to try the Glitter Gal Big Smoke polish from their Holiday in OZ collection I decided to use it as a base for a different kind of Holiday nails design. I also got some pretty pink bows with rhinestones (#K242) from Born Pretty Store to try out. I added some silver micro-pearls and rosy pink studs to the mix and this is what I came up with. I guess if you use your imagination you can call this some kind of gift package with flashy bling bling decorations design ;)

Who says Holiday nails always need to be red-green-gold/silver :P

The bows are metallic and easy to attach on the nail. They are curved instead of flat and therefore follow the shape of you nail better. I quite liked these! This time I just used a top coat to attach the decorations since I wanted to be able to remove the bows easily and stash them away for another use. If you want them to properly stay on your nail I suggest you use nail glue (tip glue) on top of your manicure to attach these bows. They are quite big and won’t stay on for long without proper glue. Just remember never to glue any decorations straight on your natural nail. Always make sure you have a few coats of polish between your natural nail and the glue.

You can buy these bows from Born Pretty Store and they also have a wide range of other nail art supplies. Born Pretty Store offers free worldwide shipping. Please use the code “NZL91” when you order and get extra -10% discount.

Born Pretty Store review – Feather Effect nail polish

1

Today I have a Born Pretty Store review for you and this time it’s Feather Effect nail polish. I have not been too interested in these feather effect polishes before and this is the first one I got. This has a lot of silver and white bar glitter on a sheer base. The silver glitter is holographic and it gives this polish a lovely glow and sparkle. Shade/color number for this is #2 in the web store.

For this manicure I used a coat of Wet n Wild Megalast Break The Ice, two coats of Feather Effect #2 and Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat.

The formula on this is quite thick. You need to let the first coat dry pretty well before applying the second one or the first coat will start dragging. Applying this with a very light hand helps too. Also this smells pretty weird/bad. That being said, I still totally love how this looks. It looks like angel wings :D So pretty and sparkly! I layered this over a sheer white base but you can layer this over any base color you want to. This would look amazing built up to be opaque on it’s own but it will need to have a date with a thinner bottle first.

You can buy the Feather Effect nail polish from Born Pretty Store and they also have a wide range of other nail art supplies. Born Pretty Store offers free worldwide shipping. Please use the code “NZL91” when you order and get extra -10% discount.

Mish Mash Challenge – Metallic

20

Ahhhh! I’m so late with this post but once again, better late than never :P So last week’s theme was metallic. Since I strongly dislike metallic finish nail polish I decided to do something that doesn’t make me want to start a huge fire and throw every metallic polish bottle in to it. I think studs and chains count as metallic, right? At least on this mani they do :P

Here’s what I did.

For this I used OPI Baby It’s “Coal” Outside with G & G HK Girl top coat. Studs and chain are from Born Pretty Store.

This is a quick and easy mani. Just do your base color and let dry. Then use glue or top coat to attach the studs on the nails and seal then in with a top coat if you want to. Little tools like dotting tool, cutters to cut the chain, small pliers etc. will be helpful.
If you have a moment go check out what all the other awesome ladies came up with!

Born Pretty Store review – Oval Gemstone wheel

6

I got this gemstone wheel from Born Pretty Store a while ago for review. This wheel has 12 different color and size oval or raindrop shaped artificial stones. These lay very flat and might be challenging to place on curvier nails. It helps to add rhinestones, micropearls etc. around the gemstone to hide the possible gap between the nail and the sides of the gemstone.

I decided to do a jewelry type design using pearly white oval gemstone from the wheel I got. I added rhinestones from my own previously bought kit and some chain that I have purchased from Born Pretty Store. The base color is Wet n Wild I need a Refresh-Mint.

There’s a lot of options on what kind of designs you can use these stones for. They allow you to do lovely 3D designs on your nails and why not even use them as a special effect on your make up look.

You can buy the gemstone wheel from Born Pretty Store and they also have a wide range of other nail art supplies. Born Pretty Store offers free worldwide shipping. Please use the code “NZL91” when you order and get extra -10% discount.

ABC Challenge – V is for Vintage Minnie

8

Today I have a very late ABC Challenge post for you, this was supposed to be up last Wednesday. I just haven’t had time to do my nails at all :/ I did this manicure last night and it’s a quick one. I just didn’t want to miss a letter since I haven’t done so by far and I had to come up with something LOL I didn’t really have any cool V polishes except one from Crazy Polish Lady but I just used her polishes for letter U so I didn’t want to go there again. Then I remembered my OPI Vintage Minnie minis collection I got a while back but never really used and decided to do something with that.

So here’s my quick Vintage Minnie manicure for letter V. I used the three polishes in the collection and also used OPI Alpine Snow, The “IT” Color and Baby It’s “Coal” Outside. I finished the manicure using G & G HK Girl top coat. The bow is from Born Pretty Store.

So this was my late post for V week and I’ll try and have my W post up in time tomorrow :)

***3D bow decoration was sent for review. Everything else used in this manicure was purchased by me.

Born Pretty Store review – Stamping plate

2
I got this stamping plate to try out from Born Pretty Store. They have a wide selection of stamping plates to choose from. I’ve been wanting a plate with rose images so that is what I chose to try out. I’m very happy with the quality of the plate. Images are easy to pick up with both my XL Stamper and Konad Stamper. The rose patterns are quite pretty and there is different styles to choose from. The plate has 15 images altogether.
For this look I used my yesterday’s Delush Polish Opalesque as a base color. I used black Konad special polish for the stamping and Color Club Where’s The Soiree? for the dotting tool dots. Images were a lot clearer before the top coat, Inm Out The Door Northern Lights Holographic top coat. Black Konad polish smudges so easy and this is what happened here too :/ From now on I’ll use some other black polish for stamping.
I really like the long rose pattern on my ring finger. I love it that on a small plate like this there’s a pattern big enough to cover my whole long nail. All of the images on this plate are very pretty and usable. I think I’ll be using this quite a lot on some summer-y nail art designs :)

Born Pretty Store review – Metal Style 3D Nail Art Sticker Silver

2

I got some more nail art supplies from Born Pretty Store to review and here’s the first one, metallic looking 3D nail art stickers. Mine are pattern #1, altogether there is seven different patterns to choose from. I’m not a huge fan of stickers but these I actually like. The subtle 3D effect and metallic look take them apart from many other more plastic looking stickers.

There are two different shapes on this sticker sheet. One that comes out in single piece and the other one can be used for french tips. French tip one comes off in two different pieces. Top part is lace like pattern and bottom part is just a solid curved piece. Those can be used together or on their own. The french tip on is all in one big ribbon so you need to have scissors handy to cut them to the size you need. The glue on these is not super sticky so you definitely need to use a top coat to seal the sticker in. Just like many other stickers, remember not to use your fast drying top coat.

On these nails I used Orly Lemonade as a base color and Inm Northern Lights Holographic Top Coat Gold.

You can buy these from Born Pretty Store and they also have a wide range of other nail art supplies. Born Pretty Store offers free worldwide shipping. Please use the code “NZL91” when you order and get extra -10% discount.

Born Pretty Store Joyme nail art pen review

7

Happy Sunday my lovelies! I hope everyone’s been having a great and relaxing weekend :)

Today I have a Joyme nail art pen review for you. These are sold in Born Pretty Store for $5.99 a piece and you can choose from six different colors. Mine is pink #06.

These are really easy to use. Directions are printed on the pen itself  “Shake me – pump & use” and it is that simple. Just remember to keep the cap on the pen when you shake it or you might make a bit of a mess. I pressed the pen down a few times on the first use to get the color to come out evenly, I pressed it against paper. Don’t over pump though or you’ll get too much color and it’s going to be hard to draw detailed things. If you use it for a bigger design then you need to pump it again when ever it seems that enough color isn’t coming out anymore.

You can draw very detailed lines and tiny little things with these pens. What I really fell in love with was the tiny little dots you can do! Always the same size, perfect shape and so tiny. I just couldn’t resist using only dots to create my first nail art design with this. You can just dot-dot-dot away. No need to keep dipping a dotting tool in polish and then get uneven sized dots. This was so quick and so easy to do! I’m gonna buy at least black and white pens too.

I used Essence Top Of The Ice-stream and Flormar U02 as a base for my floral dots design. I let the manicure dry well before using the pencil. When you’re all done with your design don’t forget to use a top coat to protect your nail art! I used the pen on top of the polish cos when I tested it on top of a quick drying top coat the color didn’t apply as well and evenly as it did straight on the polish.

You can buy this nail art pen from Born Pretty Store and they also have a wide range of other nail art supplies. Born Pretty Store offers free worldwide shipping. Please use the code “NZL91” when you order and get extra -10% discount.

Born Pretty Store Nail art studs wheel review

0

It’s time for another Born Pretty Store review. This time I have a wheel of nail art studs for you. This wheel has 12 different shape studs both silver and gold in it. I like the fact that I can get all these shapes in a same package. This way I get to play around and try out different things.

Some of the studs are quite big and all of them lay flat. You can easily bend the bigger studs so that they curve a little and match the shape of your nail. I used a dotting tool handle to push the stud against so I got it to curve just the right amount. Again I applied the studs on a manicure that wasn’t completely dry yet and pressed the studs down lightly to get them to sink into the polish a little. After I got all the studs placed I added  a top coat to seal them in. The polish is Illamasqua Rampage.

I used a lot of big studs this time cos I wanted to go a little overboard with this look. I really like how the ring finger turned out. Almost looks like it has an armor on. Next time I use these I’ll probably just do an accent nail. I find all the the studs on this kit being very usable and you’ll be seeing more designs with these in the future.

You can buy this stud wheel from Born Pretty Store and they also have a wide range of other nail art supplies. Born Pretty Store offers free worldwide shipping. Please use the code “NZL91” when you order and get extra -10% discount.
