My New Years Eve nails

4

I welcomed the New Year at home shopping nail polish online, talking to other polish fanatics in Twitter and sipping some Fresita strawberry sparkling wine ;)

For my manicure I used two coats of Color Club Pucci-Licious, two coats of Sally Hansen HD Hi-Definition in DVD and Inm Super Fast Drying Topcoat. After the polish was dry I used some nail art tape for the stripes and applied one more coat of Inm Northern Lights Hologram Topcoat Gold. This was very shiny and sparkly IRL, just perfect New Years Eve manicure!

New Year’s resolutions: More product reviews

0
My third and final New Year’s resolution is that there will be more product reviews on my blog. I already own many interesting products I’d like to show to you. For example Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy and Make Up Store Mixing Liquid for eye makeup and Essie Nourish Me hydrating base coat for nails.

Are you making any New Year’s resolutions?

New Year’s resolutions: Colorful lips

2

My second New Year’s resolution is to learn how to use more colorful lip makeup. I’m a fan of nude lips so this is a big step for me and takes some getting used to. From the photos I have noticed that my mouth seems even smaller and lips are almost invisible with nude makeup so it’s about time I learn how to wear bright lipstick.

This resolution requires me to also buy some new lipsticks, glosses and lipliners. I’ve already bought a few new products. Reviews and photos are coming up in the near future.

First try on a cloud manicure

3

I decided to give this cloud manicure a try after seeing Sannu’s blog and her beautiful Christmas nails. From her blog I also found a link to this tutorial on how to do this mani.

I used Color Club’s Ms. Socialite, Worth The Risque and Wild At Heart. I think this turned out quite nice and good looking for my first try. Next I gotta try this with some pastel colors and adding some details.

Filling up my lash stash

0

On one of the previous posts I was complaining about how sad and empty my lash drawer is. I have now started to fix that problem. I’ll keep buying more from online stores and local stores whenever I find something interesting. I’m hoping to order some Sugarpill lashes too in the near future. They have some cool ones for sale.

I really like my lashes looking full and long but I don’t want a lash extension. I actually tried extensions earlier this year but it didn’t work out for me. My eyes got irritated and itchy and the skin near the lash line started to peel off. I also don’t like how the extensions fall off with your natural lash and by your next lash fix they are looking pretty messy and pointing in ten different directions. Also the fact that I can’t rub my eyes in the shower with the extensions on is extremely annoying, not to mention the eye makeup removal…

So fake lashes are much better option for me. The lashes always look neat and full, no gaps or lashes pointing sideways. There’s a lot of different lengths, volumes and colors to choose from. You can have a different look every day. Using a good quality adhesive (Duo) fake lashes don’t damage my natural lashes or irritate my eyes. You can easily add some character to a nude makeup and make your eyes look bigger by adding a pair of natural looking lashes.

I bought these lashes from Finnish stores. The red feather lashes obviously aren’t something I’d wear on a regular makeup look  ;)

New Years resolutions: More nail art

0

This time of the year you usually come up with some New Year’s resolutions. I tend to not make any since I’m really bad at keeping the promises I make to myself. Let’s see how it goes with these ones I make for you guys.

My first New Year’s resolution is that you’ll see a lot more nail art and special manicures on my blog during the year 2013.

Here’s an example photo of a quick tape manicure using Color Club Where’s The Soiree? over China Glaze Ruby Pumps.

My Christmas eve look

5

My Christmas Eve manicure was, as has been for the past few Christmas Eves China Glaze Ruby Pumps. This is such a gorgeous polish that it doesn’t need any decorations or nail art to go with it. It’s just perfection in the bottle!

On my makeup the attention was on my lips. This was probably the first time in my life for that. I don’t like my lips and I rather draw attention to my big eyes. This didn’t look that bad but it’s gonna take a lot of getting used to. I almost removed the lip paint before leaving home and replaced it with nude gloss. Till now I have only used lipgloss, very light shine or nude lipsticks. This was Max Factor Lipfinity Lip colour 120 Hot. I’ll write a post about this at some point.

On my eye makeup I used UDPP Original with Tease and Bootycall from Naked 2 palette. The pop of color for my eyes was Sugarpill Junebug that I turned into an eyeliner using Make Up Store Mixing Liquid. I added a pair of light and natural looking lashes to make my eyes appear bigger and balance the look between my bright lips and nude eyes.

Holiday theme month: hmmm… pink!

2

I came up with the idea of using polish or color that is totally not typical for the season on the blog comment box of the lovely Charming Nails and decided to put the idea in action right away. To be honest I started to get a little bored with gold, red and green and it felt really refreshing to paint my nails neon pink using Color Club Poptastic.

This first try didn’t really turn out too great. I did some different patterns from the XL Christmas stamping plate using white Konad Special polish and added some red acrylic paint for details. I also used Color Club Worth The Risque on my pinky and to add some details and dots.

This idea had potential to be great if I had a little more time to plan and do the decorations. I could’ve done Rudolf with his red nose and maybe some Christmas lights. Add some more color to it. Oh well, I will definitely do this “Not for the season polish” -theme thing again in the future.

Holiday theme month: Oh Christmas tree…

5
And here’s the mandatory Christmas tree manicure. A little too much glitter for my taste after all and I’m starting to get enough of it for now. A little less bling bling for me now ;)
I used two coats of OPI Big Apple Red and one coat of OPI Rainbow Connection glitter polish. The ring finger Christmas tree is done with the XL Christmas stamping plate and green Konad Special polish. I fixed it a little with a nail art brush, added bigger glitter pieces from Rainbow Connection and some dotting tool Christmas balls with Color Club Worth The Risque silver holographic polish.
